LP's Encounter books
so Lonely Planet has these little guidebooks which are good if you're only going to be somewhere for a few days. I decided to get the one for Prague since I'm only going to be there 2 days, and the only thing I really wanted to see was the Jewish quarter. It's a small, compact book (nice fit if you've got a small day pack) with like top 10 sights to see, gives you sample iteneraries, depending on how long you're going to be there, gives and overview of the neighborhoods, and has a few short walking tours crammed in there too. Plus in the back is a tear-out map that is a pretty good size.
I dunno if anyone has ever used these before (they're faily new, I believe), but I've got some great ideas now for my 2 days in Prague, so I definately recommend these.... They're $11.99 USD, but a lot of them are on sale for $8.99 at the moment from LP's website, and def worth it.
LP has encounter guides for the following cities...
Bangkok
Barcelona
Berlin
Buena Aires
Copenhagen
Dubai
Dublin
Hanoi & Halong Bay
Hong Kong
Istanbul
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
London
Madrid
NYC
Paris
Prague
San Fancisco
Stockholm
Sydney

I have the Tokyo one and it's pretty good. I brought it along to supplement my Japan book just so I wouldn't have to lug around a full book while hitting the big, bad city - and it fit in my pocket nicely.
Overall, it's far from in-depth, but it's very visual, actually points out some great spots, and super handy for a short trip. If I have any extended layovers or free stopovers in any of the cities, I'd totally spring the $10 or so for the book.
