if the legal limit is say 2 bottles of alchole to bring into a country duty free, and you had 3 bottles from a previous purchase, can they come in df aswell as they are already packed and not brought on the day.

did that make sence?

ok, im going from tokyo to bangkok, buying 3 bottles, then going back to tokyo, not drinking them tho ( xmas pressies) then when i leave tokyo to go to brisbane, i want to buy 2 more. can i do this? or do they mean 2 bottle ONLY, not so much duty free on the day.

im not very good at explaining myself aywe?! heh

I don't know about other countries, but when coming into the US, it's an overall limit - no matter how many different countries I hit. So I could buy a bottle in Spain, one in the UK and still have some of my own stash, and be over the limit regardless.

Of course, I violate this limit on almost every trip. I usually take a couple of bottles worth of Jack Daniel's to Europe, usually put into plastic bottles or flasks, and I always end up coming back with a variety of liquors from wherever I visit. Hell, I even declare them on my customs form, and they don't seem to care - I just did that this week, as a matter of fact. They were selling Amarula at $12/pair of bottles in the duty free, and I just couldn't resist buying enough for everyone.

Or see how much duty they want to charge you.. if it's just a few dollars, it's better than dumping it & taking a loss!
