Ok, some people know, I am living in italy. I just found out that July 31st is my last day of work (wouldn't really call it work) My flight home to the states is on the 15th of Aug. Soooo............WHERE SHOULD I GO? here are the kickers!
I have already been here so don't include these
-Paris, all of Spain, all of Italy, all of Greece.
I will be on a limited budget, but reasonable. Aug 2nd-Aug 13th...so....lets say 300-400 euro. Keep in mind the cheap flights from Bologna, that is where I will be flying out of....thats if your intrested in helping me decide where to go.
I will not tell you where I want to go so you will so no bias. Give me some iteniraries(butchered that one!).

Don't know too much about that area besides the fact it is supposed to be gorgeous. Split and Dubrovnik? What is there to do there? Coastal cities? I checked one ferry site and the ferry was 147 euro! Must be cheaper somewhere. Travel by boats while im there???
Nice suggestion, like it. NE ONE ELSE??

Dang, Esther! That's what I was going to say Croatia also. You're close to it, Chappy, and it is supposed to be drop dead gorgeous. The area was colonized in the late Medieval and Renaissance period by Venice...so if you made it over there, you'll see those lovely, 3-4 story, pastel colored, style of buildings. Dubrovnik is a walled, port city that is supposed to be quite stunning.
Check it out...it's where I'd go in your situation.

400 Euro for about 10 days, that makes 40 per day. Then Western Europe is out anyway.
I've checked on Ryanair and Easyjet, and flights from Bologna or Italy in general all lead to London, Paris or Germany. Do you mind taking two flights ? You could go to Gdansk or Krakow !

I've been to Dubrovnik and it is absolutely stunning. The town doesn't have a train station so you have to get there/leave by bus or ferry, buses are plentiful and travel all over croatia/the balkans, plus they're cheap (I paid €10 for the 6 hour journey to Sarajevo from Dubrovnik).
As far as somewhere to stay is concerned, if you get to the bus station in the morning you'll be greeted by a hoard of old ladies offering you a room for around $15-25 a night (depending on location, time of year and how badly they want to go home). Even if you arrive later you should still be able to find a room, when I left in the evening there were still a couple of ladies there. Otherwise I believe there is a hostel or two nearby, but they will fill up quickly so you'd need to book ahead.
If you do go, definitely spend a couple of days in Bosnia, the beautiful town of Mostar is just 4 hours by bus from Dubrovnik, or Sarajevo 6 hours (the bus to Sarajevo goes through Mostar so you could easily visit both).
You can see my photos from Dubrovnik here, there are also some from Bosnia there too.

Great pictures AJB3000, amazing. Atchoum, I don't mind taking two flights. I just know with a limited budget, the amount of flights and trains will have to be limited. Atchoum, tell me more about your idea. Croatia sounds like a great idea though. Pretty cheap over there too. I love the sea and photography so it's a good match.
I should offer a prize for someone who gives me the best lay out....
Here is what I can offer..... Free nights stay(up to 3-4 days) at my house in Italy. 20 minutes from the beach, access to all of italy via train stations! But...i guess you still have to be over here, and not creep me out the first night.
Thanks for the help guys

I'd spend four days in Gdansk (one daytrip to Marbork Castle - big teutonic knights thing), then take the overnight bus to Vilnius and spend 10 days in Lithuania. Vilnius, Siauliai, the Hill of Crosses, Kaunas/Rumsiskis, boat trip down the Nemunas to Nida. Don't know if it would fit your budget (living/eating would, transportation to and from - no idea.)
