I wish to travel to Europe in Oct-Nov. But I'm having a hard time deciding where to go. I definitely want to go to Western Europe. Where's the best place to go for a first timer?

If your looking for an easy first trip to Europe, the UK and Rep. of Ireland is always a good go, english speaking, LOTs of public transport, friendly people, wicked long history, good bars and clubs, great amount of hostels.
When you go to the mainland, things can be a bit more difficult, i mean with the language barrier. BUt if you up for it, then for sure go for it!!

I agree with Canadian Dude - Im about to embark on my first trip and going to get used to/get the feel for travelling in the UK where you know the language. Once Ive settled a bit then and worked out what its all about Ill head over to mainland Europe.

So, how do we shorten "Godimcute?" Can't quite call you God, can we?
Anyway, I agree with UK or Ireland to start off. Germany is real user friendly, too -- lots of English speakers and well organized. Some would say TOO organized...

Lol, my thoughts exactly.
Now back to the topic. How about a motel near me? And what exactly do you mean by "first-timer?"

you guys are too much! haha! ;-)
yeah, english speaking countries is a safe bet, but if you're ok w/ stepping a little further out of your language comfort zone, I have to admit that I'm partial to Italy in W. Europe. It's such a beautiful country and the people and the food, and the art! Just very romantic for me!

Thanks for the helpful information and the thinly veiled come-ons!
I have another question, if you kind people wouldn't mind.
I'm worried about money in the UK. I don't know what's what. What if something costs a pound and I give them a 6 pence? Or something like that!

Get some money exchanged in your home country before u go, ask for them to give it in a few different denominations, and have a good look at them before you go so at least u know which notes are which.
Also try to get some small change as soon as you can.
*personal expereince: the toilets in paddington station cost 10p to use, there is no way of changing money at the toilets, so u need to have the right change if u want to use them, and the last thing u want (after not sleeping for 40 hours) is being forced to carry your stuff upstairs and buying something from the sainburys before u can go potty, *
check out

for pretty pics of the money.
But dont worry it doesn't take long to get used to using.

As far as money issues are concerned...
Just think of pounds as dollars and pence as cents...
Easy...
Well, thats how i figured it all out...

I'm saying that uk is the best bet. My first trip was to France/Germany/Spain and it was pretty hard to communicate. I barely got by on my two years of high school Spanish and my trusty spanish/english, german/english and french/english dictionaries. Sometimes I think the I should have started out smaller and with a country where I could talk to people instead of resort to body language and emotions. Plus the UK and the Ireland should like a lot of fun...plus if you feel confident catch a ferry to mainland for a few days and see how you do.
