I am leaving for my first trip to Europe in a week. I am getting extremely excited, but I am also getting nervous. I am pretty sure that I have everything I need, but when I was packing my clothes, I started to have second thoughts on what to bring. I was planning on bringing this orange 'pearl jam' t-shirt, but I got to thinking that maybe such a brightly colored shirt might make me more noticeable to pickpockets or thieves. Am I being paranoid? So, I guess I am asking what is the best colors to wear and clothes to pack, so as not to look too much like a tourist or an American and to not gain attention from pickpockets? Is my orange t-shirt too noticeable or should I not worry about it? How about t-shirts with college logos? Please help! thanks

Honestly, I'd say not to worry about that kind of stuff. Logo apparell, whether sports or colleges or countries, is all over the world, now. That won't identify you as American...heck, I saw a UofM (ack! pflt!) hat in Cambodia (worn by a local -- not tourist). You see sports team clothing everywhere.

Instead, plan your "wardrobe" to be able to mix and match...you know, neutral colors that don't show dirt, or can go an extra wear or two between washings...

Also, plan on being able to layer for those chilly or damp days.
