Should I book my train tickets ahead of time?

Hey guys -

My friends and are going to be traveling around Europe for a couple of weeks with point to point tickets. Would you guys recommend buying tickets for Rome to Paris and then Paris to Barcelona ahead of time or just at the station a day or two early?

It should not be a problem booking the tickets a day or two ahead. Have you looked into a railpass? You can get one that will be good for France, Spain, and Italy and it will probably save you money and time.

If your set on buying point to point and not using a Eurail pass then I highly recommend NOT buying your tickets too far ahead of time. Rarely are trains booked solid(especially in Italy) and you should have no trouble grabbing seats a few hours early. Also, if you decide that you've fallen in love w/ a city and don't want to leave, as is often the case, you don't have to cuz you don't have reservations anywhere.
