Good travelogue
I read this book recently that my mom sent me. It's called "Tales of a Female Nomad" by Rita Golden Gelman. A woman went through a divorce that really could have destroyed her but she decided to pursue her dream of travel. She began immersing herself with locals and now is like a permanent nomad. She started in Mexico, has been to Europe, part of Asia, lived in Indonesia for a good bit of time (her stories about Bali are touching, the people she met), she went to Israel for awhile, New Zealand... lots of stuff. Meanwhile she worked as a freelance writer, writing stories and mailing them back to her editor. It really outlines budget traveling very well I think -- good tips.
Also good story if you're shy about meeting other travelers. She was in the same boat. It's a great book so pick it up sometime if you're bored. I thought it was great. She's got her own website too, google her name. It might be femalenomad.com but I'm not sure.
Enjoy!
