I was wondering if anybody has ever made reservations by phone to the museums in Germany, Austria, Italy and Holland and also if anybody knows a website that has the phone numbers.
thanks

Never have successfully. I tried to fax a reservation to the Vatican Museums, but as always was traveling at the last minute and didn't contact them two weeks early or whatever it is. If you already know which museums you want to visit, check out the entry for that facility in a guide book, they usually have reservations numbers if they take them over the phone/by fax.

Sometimes you can get tix to one museum at another one, or at a metro station - this is usually a great idea, as it saves time in the enormous queues at the building. Again, the guide books are good about giving you this info in advance, so see what you can find for the places you particularly want to visit.

I always thought reservations for museums were silly, until I encountered the queue for the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam... dig up that info and go for it!
