went to my first backpackers this week.
ok it was in my country, so it wasnt too foregin, it was in melbourne.
sooooooooooooooooo fun!! ha it was a lil weird putting on full stage makup in the communial bathroom...lol and trying to sleep during the day, when everyone else is going in and out of the dorms..needless to say, we didnt get much sleep.
but it was a good warm up experiance for when i do "the big one" in europe and the states.

I might drive out to vegas one of these days just tp stay at the hostel there and see waht its like. Its probably a good idea to try it out before going to Europe, I assume the setup is pretty much the same everywhere. I know some of them have a "foriegners only" rule to keep out local lowlifes looking for a cheap place to stay. I will have to look into it a little more.

I think you just need to prove that you don't live in the city you're visiting and that you're going to be either leaving or trying to find more permanent lodgings. At the hostels here you have to have proof that you're a traveler and not a bum.
