first time out of the country

new to tpunk.......... I am planning a trip to western europe next summer I will be there from the beginning of june to late july . where should i go for the best nightlife in berlin, a-dam, praha, milan, rome, paris, barcelona, munich, french and italian rivera . this is my first time out the country and i will be going alone backpacking it across europe ............P.S. where are the best hostels and places to meet other travelers any advice you can give me is very much appreciated.

Great places to meet people are definatly at your hostel, pubs, line ups at clubs, tourist/ non tourist sites...pretty much everywhere now that I think about it
If your an out going person, meeting people will be the least of your worries...

HELLO up there cdude

Thanks alot for the links they helped alot. i am trying to hit 6 or 7 countries in about 2 months ? does this sound realistic if i want to spend some time in each of the countries. I am thinking about germany czech switzerland italy france spain and A-dam as wildcard can you recommend any must see's anywhere in the above also where are the best castles? sorry for all the questions but you TPers have the best travel site i have found (so warm and snuggly :D )

Right off the bat, I would like to let you know that those are some of the more expensive countries in Europe...except czech anyway...

For sure 2 months is enough time, you manage the time you have nayway you want while your away my friend, one city you might wann astay longer and another city you might wanna stay less time...it will all depend...you'll know when you get there. WWM has ton TONS of short trips abroad, and he appreciates every moment he has to spend, even though it might only be a few days, point is, use the time you have wisely, and don't have regrets about the time you do not have...

Must sees...hmmmmmmmmm...here are a couple for ya....

All the major cities are mus sees for sure, as I am sure you already know...If I had to pick some things to do and see....

Paris, Jim Morrisons Grave, Enjoy a glass of wine at a vinyard in central France

Italy: Get an Old Woman to Cook For You, Any Village
The Holy Grail, Genoa (Hey if the Genovese say its real, then it must be)
Battle of the Oranges, Ivrea ( held every year on the Thursday before Shrove Tuesday)

Switzerland: Lucerne
Open a Swiss Bank Account!!!!!
White Water Rafting, Interlaken

Germany: BMW Museum, Munich
Traditional Beer Hall, ANYWHERE!!!
Salt Mines, Berchtesgaden
Nazi Bunkers, Berlin
Enjoy a couple days in the Black Forest

These have been my picks before when peps have asked what to see, but the choice wil be your own in the end my friend!!


Don't forget about the small towns as you make your way through these countries, you will find very interesting people there, as well as people interested in you :-)

hry there Cdude thanx for the tips im sure they will be helpful defintley getting an old lady to cook for me i have a friend in potenza so that wont be a problem but im budgeting about $5000US ( using the money my grandparents gave me for college) and i will for sure at leat stop by jims grave( big doors fan down here Rider on the storm all time top song)and the BMW museum(maybe i can get a job working on bmws ) also do you know what the requirments are to get an international drivers permit and renting a car (gotta try oput the Autobahn) thanx for all the tips you sure know your shit

I don't know what state your in, so just type in your postal code....

well first off thanx for the links c-dude they help out and as for your question there duffy i plan an moving to europe to live within the 4-5 years and it would be nice to have some money invested over there when i go and also bragging rights(hehehehe)

Here are some tips on places to stay and party where you are headed

Amsterdam- Bars are everywhere in the city, but some of the best bars and clubs are in the Leidesplein area, since you are going to be there during the summer, if you happen to be in the Netherlands during the first Sunday of the month, go to Zandvoort, a beach town 25 minutes by train from Amsterdam. They throw some incredible parties on the beach there.

Berlin-Stay at Circus Hostel. There are two of them. The one I was at was the Rosa-Luxemburg-Str one. Amazing hostel, this was my favorite in Europe. Very clean rooms, powerful showers, cheap and excellent bar, and a great breakfast. Also right across from a U-Bahn station so you are close to anywhere in the city.

Munich-I stayed at Euro Youth Hostel. Good location as it is close to the train station. Decent rooms, but a nice bar. Some beer halls to check out Hoftbrahaus (very touristy but still great) and Augustiner (not as touristy). Augustiner also owns the Euro Youth Hostel

Prague-Get ready to drink half liters of beer for $.50, which was one of my favorite things to do in the city. I have heard good things about Clown & Bard Hostel, but avoid A&O Hostel, where I stayed. Cramped rooms, showers with no pressure or hot water , and somewhat difficult to find.

Although not on your list, try to get to Madrid, which has in my opinion the best nightlife in Europe. Club prices are expensive, but everything else (food, lodging) is pretty cheap compared to other Western Europe countries.

hey skid thanx for the tips they look like they will be helpful only thing is i might be pushing back my trip another year ( ) but then i will be going to europe to live so its not all bad just waiting a year and a half will really suck especially living in the states ddamn i hate this place but thank you anyway
