would you pay the extra $ for a first class eurail flexi or if your under 26 go for the youth flexi? I'm 21 and can go for the youth 2nd clas flexi but if the first class a lot better and cleaner I'd go for that? I'm a clean person (OCD) and I can deal with some gross I'm mean I'm not going to be squeaky clean all the time when backpacking I can deal with all I encounter denfinitly but the nicer and cleaner the envirorments i'm in the better, and to pay a little extra for piece of mind I'd go for that, but from all ur experiences would it be worth extra, is ist class that much different?

Go with 2nd class, you'll meet other backpackers. I found 1st class was more for bussiness people going to other cities.

I'd recommend 2nd class as the trains in Europe are immaculate.

Um, or backpackers over the age of 26!

There's not that much difference between first and second. It's not at all like an airplane. Yeah, the seats are a little bigger, but it's no big deal. Save yourself the money with the 2nd class pass. You'll thank yourself for it later.

I was reading up on the trains in the Netherlands ...
Apparently they've recently upgraded them such that the second class carriages are now what was previously the first class ones - so they're still really nice.

PS: If you're over 26 and have a first class ticket, you CAN sit in second class 'to meet other packers' - you'll just get strange looks from the conductors (dont know if thats true with reservations etc). And just to confuse matters more - the whole over/under 26 issue is only for railpasses - if you get point-to-point or a country based pass (rather than a select pass etc) theres no limit (well, depending on the country).

"Yes, operater? I'd like to put in a order for my friend MeTurk. Yes, I'd like to get him a clue, cause he just missed the joke entirely."
