Hey all,

I'm a 19 year old male from Canada planning to do some travelling overseas with a buddy of mine. We both really need to get away from all the bs we've been dealing with around here so we decided on going to europe for 10-12 months starting early october.

Now, 10-12 months seems like a long time, so we figured we would probably need to find a way to make some money.... but at the same time we want to see as much of europe as we can. If anyone can help me out on finding a job over there, places to stay, how much money we need to save, and so on, it would be greatly appreciated. Possibly someone out there has stayed in europe for that amount of time and could share what they had to do to survive? Any input would be awesome, and the more advice the better!!!

THANK YOU! over and out.

Cool

Rock on man! I wish I did that when I was 19...I am gonna hit the road on a permanent basis in 2008. Work along the way will most likely be found at hostels. You will have to talk to people and check the pin boards if they have one. As for money I would look to spend at least 50 euro a day on average if you live cheaply. Eastern Europe is cheaper so keep that in mind.

Grab some guide books and start reading up!

Fruit picking is also a good option in your case. It will allow you to stay for short periods of time and easily find work. To work in hostels usually require to stay a few months, or they already have plenty of offers from short term travellers.

There is a book in which you may find info on where and when to go, following harvest seasons : Work your way around the world, by Susan Griffith. They update the info every year or so.

Ah, and !!! W ELco ME To the boa RD !!!

You may not be interested but you can always look into a visa. That is what i'm going to do but I also hear that you can find jobs that pay cash as you go try that book that atchoum was talking about. If your going to be in Ireland at all let me know
