Hey everyone:

I was up until 5:30AM reading all of the posts on here, and I really want to say how much of a help it has been already.

Anyway, I am traveling to Brazil this summer for 2 months, and was wondering if anyone has had success finding gyms/weight-rooms? I have tried searching for these entries on other sites, but most keep coming up Gyms/Saunas, and one even talked about "boys for rent". NOT what I was intending to find... any suggestions?

My first stop is São Paulo, and I leave the beginning on June. Thanks for your help!

Well will you be staying in a hostel or a hotel? A lot of hotels may have something limited but at leasta weighbench and maybe a treadmill or two.

Also some gyms you will find guest passes that you can use for a month or a day. I mean this wasn't Brazil when I was looking for gyms while traveling (I was training for a marathon) but found some basic stuff like that around Australia. There is always the free workouts when you need them like hiking, curling your pack, running and swimming etc. Just a thought.

I also found a few hotels that had a nicer setup and just snuck my way into them hehe.

Brazil (at least Fortaleza) has a bunch of gyms. Even saw a real nice on in Cidade dos Funcionares.... huge gym, all the weights and aerobic equipment you would ever need, and of course many many beautiful Brazilian women there too to keep your eyes and mind exercised! They also had jujitsu and capeiroa classes all for the really expensive price of 50 R a month (about $17 when I was there). Unfortunately I never signed up, because I was out drinking almost every night, so working out wasn't exactly on my mind! There was also many other gyms around, so I don't think you will have a problem finding one. So where in Brazil are you going to go to?
