During March I'm going to be in germany for just over 2 weeks, I was wondering what exactly does customs check for. I know there is regulations on what you carry, but what about for checked baggage? Basically what I want to know is can I have alcohol in my checked baggage? I wanted to bring some back as gifts and I couldn't find much info elsewhere. I know it wont be legal for me to have it once I am back in the states but I'm getting picked up by my parents so it wouldn't be a problem then, cause if I can remember correctly the baggage goes straight through.

I just got back from Europe and they had us claim our bags (JFK airport) go through customs and re check our bag for our connecting flight. You will have to go through customs in the States. I don't know how difficult it will be for you being underage. Sorry about spelling in a bit of a rush.

Also go to I think it is called travelgov.com and it tell you what you can bring and can't. You could also call the airline on which you are flying .

I always bring stuff into the UK, i have never had a problem, i always put half in hand lugage and half in hold, i only ever put the legal limit in each, that way most of the staff only see one bag so they never stop them. at least with the UK as long as you dont have a stupid amount they dont care. plus make sure you rap anything going in the hold well, they love throwing bags about

Each country has different amounts it allows...and yes, it includes what you bring in your checked luggage. Butterj's idea is clever. However, it is YOUR call whether to attempt to "lie" to customs...
