Before you do that base jump in New Zealand, or that wicked sweet rafting trip in Ottawa, or that crazy ass bungee jump in Austria, or the scuba dive you have always wanted to do in Chile...

READ THE FINE PRINT ON YOUR POLICY, most regular insurance policies do not cover acidents from "X-TREAM" sports, if you get hurt while doing one of these activities, you could be left high and dry footing the bill at a hospital over seas...( That would make a great Western Union commercial)

Call the insurance company before you leave and ask if there is coverage for these events, it will prob cost a bit more, but better safe than sorry.

I have just heard from a friend of mine who was travling in Africa, he was rock climbing and broke his ankle, the insurence company gave him a real hard time because they concidered rock climbing as part of the "exclusion clause" of his policy...Becareful folks, if your going to be doing a specific sport or activity, you might have to get special insurence for it!!
