Yoo-Hoo! Bringing back old topics!

I always tend to carry a good book with an eyecatching cover or a well known title. If you're in France reading 'Hunch Back of Notre Dame' then people may ask you how you like the book or if you're hitting Notre Dame later. I started a conversation with a random guy when I was visiting my college because he was reading a book I had read the semester before. Of course he didn't notice me but yea. Or you could always drag along a copy of the Kuma Sutra and read in the park, hehehe.

Also if you have a small photo album of pics from back home laying next to you at the hostel table or on your bed...people will ask to see them...wouldn't you!

Talking

OPEN HEARTED JOYOUS SMILES invite the people around you to come closer as does an "aura" of positive energy almost WHEREVER in the WORLD you are whether it's the locals whoi may not speak the same language or other world travelers. Just like the saying" a picture is worth a 1000 words" so is a SMILE.

Add a couple of well meant winks of the eye or lifting of the eyebrows or your own personal facial expressions or movements you'll be well on your way to meeting people and breaking the ice.

Besides those tips always remember when traveling to SPEAK SLOWLY and ENUNCIATE and that so many people ( especially whoever you might be interested hooking up with )really APPRECIATE being LISTENED to.

probably no one is reading this thread anymore. but...

this morning i was out watching the sun rise over the water. there were a few other people there and one girl saw me taking pictures. she came up with her camera infront of her like she was going to ask me to take a picture of her. instead she said 'would you like to compare pictures?' it an awesome way to break the ice AND i saw she had not only taken pictures of the sunrise but of the way the city looked w/ the morning sun shining on it! needless to say i had to take a few more pics
