I am due to travel through Serbia and was planning on a few days in Belgrade in about 3 weeks time, do you think there is any risk atm? or am i just being paranoid?
During such unstable situations, the best is to consult national warnings issued by your own government a few days prior to going. Warnings are usually overly dramatic, but they should provide precise infos on the areas and routes to avoid. Those warnings are updated daily.
In my experience, having lived a few months in a city where civil riots were also happening (Kathmandu), I know they are usually limited to certain quarters whilst the rest of the city is safe.
Unless there is further unrest I would say dont miss out Serbia, the whole area is awesome. Just keep ypur wits abou you and if there is trouble whilst ur there lay low in the hostal.
I dont know what you are doing in the area etc but if you you pass through Bosnia be sure to check out Motar, its unmissable and truely beautiful!!
