Where to spend a weekend?
I'm thinking about taking a weekend off and going somewhere, just to break my routine and have some fun... any ideas on stateside destinations that could be cool for a couple days? I'm thinking north east (Boston or NY) or maybe California. I've never stayed in an American hostel, but it seems like it could be a fun/cheap way to go if I end up someplace I don't know people...
Any thoughts?

I loved Santa Barbara in Cali (just had an awesome group of people at the hostel more than anything), I think San Fran would be a fun choice too...New York definitely can always dish up some good times...are you looking for any particular activities?

A weekend in the Big Apple wouldn't be bad.

Thanks for the ideas. I'd come to toronto, but I've got quasi-relationship issues there.
I'll let you guys know if I come up with something. I'm starting to get that need-to-travel feeling already, and I'll probably be happier/more productive in school if I can at least get a taste now and then...

Not really. We're still facebook friends. Actually I've got several friends in that area now, not the mention the meet-ups that need to happen with you guys! One of these days I'll make it happen...
Cali, Chicago, Denver, NY, Phoenix... all good ideas. I don't know much about Phoenix though. I just imagine miles of empty desert. Haha... I guess I have the same misconceptions about other places that people do about Texas.

Well, if you want to go somewhere close, go to San Antonio and visit all the Spanish missions there...really cool. Other than that, how about Canyon de Chelly, AZ? Or Monument Valley, Utah? Or Seattle, in the bootifull Pacific NW? Or Ohio, rent a car, and check out all the Indian mounds and historic sights? Or drive a car along Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michi...Mich...hmm, still can't say that word during college football season!
Or coastal Maine? Or the Outer Banks, NC, in the off season?
Okay, that's probably more than you wanted!

Sometimes when I get the travel bug and want to get away for a weekend I'll find a good concert to go to in Chicago or Boston or Red Rocks or somewhere. Let the music decide where you go.
