I dug out all of my journals yesterday and took them to work for a little reading sesh, wow! I never remembered most of those times until I read what I wrote. Its amazing to look back and say to yourself "this is what I was thinking while on the ferry to Crete." A lot of peeps dont keep journals because it can be a pain in the ass, but I have to say it is well worth it. I even have one with sections for pictures so I attached a picture to each memory, it helps me relive that day or moment.

Travel Journals are a huge plus

yah, TUI, I agree. I also occasionally bought postcards of specific sites and used them as a sort-of mini-journal. I haven't done anything with them yet, they're in a zip-loc on a shelf in my closet, but I'll get around to it One Of These Days.

This is why I keep an online journal. You get to keep pictures and such with it. Plus everyone back home can keep tabs on the latest news. (Though it doesn't help if you don't want people reading about it )

verstehen... question... did you keep that site up while you were on the road? I was thinking of doing something like that... but dont want to take a lap top with me. Would it be feasible for me to do it from cyber cafes. Something simple where I could post photos and little messages to family and friends.

Yes, I updated that from the road. The text could be updated from from any cyber cafe, but pictures required me to do some manual updating from my laptop.

At some nicer cybercafe's with newer XP machines, you could theoretically download pictures from your camera and upload them to your website via FTP.

To answer the next question, I wrote the text updating system myself.

Many "blog" sites give you the ability to update text and pictures from the road. Some are free, some are for pay. They are great options, but I'm a designer, so I like to do things my own way.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the process.

It's a great idea to keep one. I would do an online journal, but, I'm just not as creative online as I am with a book. I suppose, it's different, because I could take my book anywhere and write. Thats just my lazy excuse though! My sister has bought me a journal for when I go away, which is pretty soon....
