Greetings all.

My trek will be from May 3rd through May 24th of 2004. I have several questions about my plans. Here is the schedule:

London (3 days, staying with Aunt)
Portsmouth (1 day, friends live there)
Caen/Omaha Beach/American Cemetary (1/2 day, I REALLY want to experience this)
Paris (3 days, 3 Ducks or Aloha)
Interlaken (2 days, bungee jumping!)
Nice (2 days, Daytrip to Cannes)
Munich (3 days)
Berlin (3 days)
Amsterdam (3 days, Flying Pig DT)
Home (Houston)

OK, so here are the questions:
1) Has anyone been in Nice/Cannes during the film festival? If so, is it worth it?
2) Anyone been to Interlaken? I was thinking about axing this leg and adding days in Paris or somewhere else. But I really do want to jump off a bridge with a rope tied to my leg.
3) Is Munich worth 3 days? I heard that it is easily done in a day and a half. Anything else to do there besides drink beer? Not that there is anything wrong with that....
4) Amsterdam? worth 3 days? Is there anything else to do there besides get high? Not that there is anything wrong with that....
5) Am I leaving something off? (I am not going to Spain, Portugal and Italy. I am saving Italy for my honeymoon)

any suggestions would be helpful....

NO not during the festival unfortunatlly, but I was there the week after, and It was good, although by "budget" standards it is an expencive place. You can expect to pay a premium on rooms and prob food during that week, and the sights for sure.

I have passed through INterlaken, but did not stay so I can not be of help on that one. If your going to spend the night, here are some options for ya

Munich is good, can be done in a couple of days if your looking to cram alot into one trip. The BMS museum is sweet, and the Glockenspiel is very cool. The arctitecture is very cool there dispite the mosern look of alot of the buildings. Your can also vist the old olympic site.

If you have never been I would say go for it, but do not waste all you time in the red light district, you will be sorry. ready this post about my gripe about Amsterdam... Now I hear that Rotterdam which is not to far from Amsterdam is a really wicked place to go.

Ya, the rest of Europe and the world!!
NA, serious, you are doing pretty good with the time you have, make the best of it and just see what you can. If you start to stress about what you did not see, you run the risk of not appreciating what you did see. Save the rest for another adventure, if I could recommned something, spend the 2 days in Munich, and take that extra day and see Monaco, its worth it.

this area is just beautiful - for me, since i don't like to "party" - the bernese oberland's more natural sites would interest me more. there are thousands of hiking trails in those mountains and some pretty hard to beat views too!

Munich (3 days)
i don't even drink beer and i spent 10 days there in october (had originally planned for 3!). i had a fabulous time, mostly chilling in cafes reading books, drinking baileys and coffee, that or eating out... i liked it a lot.

i really went for the weed, but, the city is just beautiful. the canals and the way the light shines off of them is really nice. plus, you get some beautiful skyscapes being that far north. 3 days is plenty - and i can highly recommend an indonesian restaurant in town SARI CITRA - don't waste your money on a more expensive place!

Minich:

Its a great city, you should check out the Dachau museum its very interesting.

Amsterdam:

I reccoment you rent your own little boat and tour yourself around the canals, its fun.
You also have the ann frank museum, vangoh museum. 3 days will be fine.
