Okay, the last six times finally loaded up. You can never be too sure. My husband is so confused, why when we're planning a trip to Italy, I keep clicking on condos in the DR. Can't .... resist ... urge ...

Well, I don't know how many times I clicked, but I'm dizzy from watching the little spinny thing at the top of my screen ... think I'll go to bed now. Is there a click counter on your site, benna? Or do you have some way of monitoring it yourself?

The web site designer has a counter, but I think I am going to put a visual one as well. I think Tamara deserves an award!!

For google at least clicking isnt going to help

Google assesses the pages not by how many hits and unique hits it receives but by how many and the "value" of the pages that LINK to it.

If page A links to page B than its like page A is voting for page B. Now as page B gets more and more links its "value" increases. But its not purely ranked based on how many links but the "value" of the originating links. So a link to page B that comes from a website that has 100,000 links will get you a higher rank than a link from a page with 1 link.

So basically the way to get your page ranked well would be to have everyone put a link to your page on their blogs, journals, websites whatever.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! But I'm addicted now!

For those of us who don't have blogs, webpages, etc, does our clicking help at all?

It might on other search engines. I just know that thats not how google works. What would help is if you talk on other forums, throw that link in your signature. Every time you post, thats another link count for google.

Thanks for the tip Slacker, I do have links on a few pages so far. I also have Adam from the boards putting in some sort of request to the search engines.

And I will definately add the link in my signature! I may need to start a Clickers Annonymous Group for Tamara it seems....

okay benna I got your site submitted to 255 different search engines today. Though what slacker said is mostly true their are alot of search engines out their that do use popularity. As for google being the most popular search engines that isn't completly true. because their are so many coices out their that even if it is number one it still may only mean that 25 percent of the people use google. that means that there are 75 percent of the people not using google. but send me an email and I will send you the information that I did on your site I w ill also give you some information on meta tags... and keywords in your site. also having alt tags on your pictures is very important. send me a message with your email and I will get you all the info. also I ran a report on your site with 5 different search string on the 25 most popular search engines around the world and your site never came up in the first 50 results.... but we will get the problem fixed for you.

Meta tags are only important for some older search engines like Alta Vista and Lycos. Yahoo is a directory - not a search engine, and Google uses PageRank, as Slacker and I pointed out.

Definitely add them, because there's no drawback and they do help for some of the smaller searches, but don't expect to jump immediately in Google or anything.

BTW: added your link to my blog and if I ever change the format of my other little page I'll definitely add you there, too.
