Default Route Suggestions Wanted!

First of all, HEYA EVERYBODY!

I haven't been on TPunk in a looong time but I never forgot you folks. Missed you

I am planning a month-long Europe trip with a friend. All started when we decided to see Jethro Tull play in Zurich on May 10. So that's all set in stone.

Haven't booked a flight out of Vancouver yet. We need to figure out our plans!

That's where I'm hoping you seasoned travellers can help us.

Places we MUST go:

Marrakech
The coast of Italy, specifically the cinque terre
Zurich on May 10 for Jethro Tull
Reichenbach Falls, Switzerland

We've chosen some pricey places it seems! Willing to fly from Marrakech to anywhere, obviously. Haven't decided on a city to land in and leave from.

Thoughts?

Man, it sucks to think that my route suggestions are going to be at least 6-7 years old at this point! You might want to scrap Marrakech if you only have a month but I think Italy and Switzerland is definitely doable.

I would suggest arrive in Zurich for the concert straight away so you can maximize the nicer weather for the rest of the trip. I always had a blast in Interlaken Switzerland with all of the outdor activities available in that area, and if it were me I would stay there a week. Then you can head south to Cinque Terre. Its very pretty and definitely worth hiking through all of the towns, but there isnt a ton to do around there other than laze at the cafes or on the rocky beaches. From there I would suggest Florence and then Rome. Ive never been to Florence, but I know its worth seeing, and Rome is definitely a must see and a place to stay a little while.

Say what kind of things you want to do and we can get more specific.

Happy to see you again, it has been a long while.

on that note, I am always partial to Spain, Italy, and eastern europe... but I think that is my love of their beers. lol.

I realize this is late, so any updates?

Cinque Terre is a must!

I haven't made it to Switzerland yet but when I go I'm definitely going to check out Gimmelwald, the little itty bitty town way up in the mountains behind Interlaken. Note: NOT GRINDELwald, Gimmelwald. Rick Steve's, the travel guy, swears by it.

Well, you can't argue against Cinque Terre. Seems like it's recommended in every travel book/site. Must be amazing.

If you have the time and money, may as well squeeze it in and check it off your bucket list!

Not sure about the other cities. Been meaning to make it over to Marrakech myself someday. I see pretty cheap flights from Madrid on Ryanair.com from time to time so eventually I will check it out as well. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!
