Default Buenos Aries

So my buddy and TPunker alexwindos is in BA and he's hating. I think the problem is he does not know the nicer places to go and as I have no idea I am asking my more Argentine experienced T Punk bros and sisters.

you should PM Florencia. I'm not sure if she's back in country, but if she checks her email you may get lucky

I haven't seen Flo in a while. I think that she may have been spending the summer in Europe though...

Ben, that's terrible!! Just tell me a bit about your friend (age, tastes, where he's staying at, etc) and I'll come up with things for him to do/see/try, ok?

Just get me back on this and I'll get on it!

I'm posting here the PM I sent Ben because I think it could help fellow TPunkers headed this way (accomodation wise):

Quote:
I figured something like that had happened!! Yeah, Buenos Aires can be tricky like that sometimes... he's provably staying downtown in San Telmo, La Boca or Montserrat... and even though those places are touristy and nice to take a stroll on a weekend afternoon at night it's terrible... just tell him to get his butt out of there and look for a Hostel in Palermo or Recoleta or Barrio Norte.

This is a list of hostels I found choosing location.

Te Adoro Garcia (Caņitas) --> in a very residential area (close to where i live) VERY close to small pubs and bars and lovely restaurants but a bit further away from the city (you can take just about 5 different buses to get to the city center if he wants to) + a less than 10' walk to the subway. [Caņitas - Belgrano neigbourhood]

Hostel Hogar al Sur --> In Palermo, a very trendy neigbourhood with LOADS of bars, restaurants, amazing bive. Verytrendy and bohemian at the same time, a lot of little new designer shops, very nice to walkk around. More crowded than the previous hostel, but better location. [Palermo]

Hostel Giramondo --> in the same neigburhood as mentioned above (Palermo), but in a more residential (aparment buildings).

El Fitulete - Palermo --> same as before

El Sol Hostel - Recoleta Very nice neigbourhood, it's in a very busy street, so might be a bit noisy, but it's in a good neigbourhhod, and closer to the city center.

Well... most hostels are in the city center, but if he's staying in BA for an extended period of time (over a week) I reccomend that he stays someplace else, and he'll get to see how we live and everything. I tried to copy the links, but the stupid HostelWorld.com server redirects u to their main site, so copy the names on the earch bar by hostel name, and he should get them.

That's all I can think for noe, I would deffinitely recomend Palermo. Deffinitely.

If he likes sports, tell him to go to the Museum of Boca Team in La Boca Neigbourhood, I've heard it's fantastic.

I'll try to think of other things to do, I havent got much time now... but I'll get back to you on this!

On the meantime, tell hime to relocate!!
Besos
