Anyway, in the last year my art "career" has taken off somewhat. ...
Many of you know that I was engaged. Well, "WAS" is the operative word: I broke it off in August. ...
I have more plans for my future, not just with art but with some other stuff I'm working on. It's going to take a few years and I'm not really saying much about it but you'll all know when it goes live. :D

Well, total bummer, and pretty awesome all in one, girl - sorry to hear about the engagement, but, well, I would have been pretty disappointed to lose you to India on a semi-permanent basis, too.
Your art rocks, btw - so it's only right that it should begin taking off.
So - for me?
Well, I'm in Kuwait, waiting on my flight home - I've spent the last year in Afghanistan, which was a very bittersweet year for me. I've done some pretty good things, and saved lives, but we've lost 19 of my EOD brethren this year - one who was killed 40 feet away from me while taking immediate action and saving the lives of three others that were right near the blast site. He was a National Guard Soldier from Phoenix, and a father with three daughters and a wife of 20 years.
I did the on scene investigation and wrote his award - and at this point, the chances look good that he may be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions.
I'm coming home to a new girlfriend - which gives me hope, this will be a big change from my usual dating history - I usually only date crazy - this one seems to be somewhere between normal and 'eccentric' - My standard tends to be somewhere between 'wild and impulsive' and 'bugfuck crazy'.
She and I have some time off this summer, and I plan on spending much of it decompressing - I see another motorcycle trip to Mexico in my future, I think!
Other than that - I go back to Iraq next fall, so I'll be spending my time doing what I do best - making stuff stop working for a living!
All in all, my life is doing good - I still have all my fingers and toes - and i'm watching my kids grow up via webcam, with the occasional break in between deployments. I'll be retired before I'm 43, though, leaving me the ability to buy my sailboat and do the endless summer thing - doing the world on sailpower...
With luck!
