I cant say it enough- don't do it, dude.* Don't.* I'm a carpe diem girl myself, but it is not worth all the worry and the hassle and people calling your family and harrassing them and you.* Don't do it.* I dont know if I would have listened to that advice myself, but please please think about it a little more.

Well they wont hastle any of my family since the only number they have on me is my cell phone which will remain active. The strategy is to pull the money off the card at 2.99% fixed rate and pull enough to also make minimum payments for a year. When I return I will quickly destroy the balance since the interest is low and I will have roommates, etc. If it were the normal interest (12-20%) then I would say forget it. I am going to collect unemployment which will also help.
I truly appreciate the concern and someone always has to play devil's advocate.
Thanks for the support and concern guys! This is like a second family to me.
Happy Trails!
Foo

I am not sure of GA but in MI it is a pct of your highest quarter in the last year. You get 26 weeks and basically you just have to call MARVIN (Michigan Automated Response Voice Interaction Network) every 2 weeks to get your check. They don't care if you are looking for a job, have a job, or what the hell you are doing. But that is Michigan, and that is why we are the poorest, dumbest, most unemployed state in the country. Hell we make Europes unemployment rate look GOOOOOOD.
Sorry you lost your job dude, it sucks, especially around the holidays. It was not quite a year ago that I lost my job. And I am pretty close to it again. Hope you enjoy the trips!!

Oi.
That sucks, foo.* My answer for everyone with money problems is "do a medical study" lol...but other than that, I've got nothin' for ya.

I concur. Extend your time in the UK a bit and do a medical trial there and make British Pounds. Theyre hella easy to get on, and only require a passport if youre a foreigner. I did it last spring and it was an awesome time.

Sorry to hear it, foo.
No one can take away your travel experience, nor will you always have the time to fulfill your travel dreams. But, you can always find a job to pay off debt.
The good news is, you're a financial planner (right?), and you have a plan. That is the key .

Sorry to hear about the job man. I think I would go with Bellelass on this one. make sure you have some secure income before you go off and running. Debt totally sucks. I am finally debt free after so long. Any how...Good luck whatever your decision.
