Is there any website that would have a big detailed map of Europe that I could download (free) and print across 4 or more A3 pages? I've been looking around and most maps are very basic and small, I know I could buy a good big one in a shop but I'm guessing there kinda expensive.

Do you want something to hang on the wall or to take with you on your travels. If you want something for the wall, check out a school supply store or bookstore that caters to homeschooling. They sometimes have amazing stuff for reasonable prices.

Or hunt down a PDF of a map of Europe.. Since PDF is scalable, you can print it to any size, unless it's set to a low resolution to begin with

There is a map that is printed by a company called Hammond, I bought mine at Borders, it's $11.95. It folds down to about 6" x 12" but when you unfold it, it is very detailed and even has a listing of most cities in Europe, train routes, ferry routes, airports, etc. It is 1:4,000,000 scale. It shows major highways, and county roads. It seems to be the best map I have found that shows all of Europe and compacts down so nicely.

Wall, so I can stick pins in it and that kind of thing. I couldn't find any PDF maps worth a damn, there all ether picturefiles of java maps.

That's a great idea! The schools are full of stuff like that!
