so I needed to just throw some props my way cos my grades this quarter were posted tonight and let me tell you it's been the hardest quarter I've ever had. not only is it VERY difficult to go back to school after being out of school and working for a few years (if you're considering going back to school, you will experience this cos it's a whole different mindset from working, and it's hard to revive that old mindset of school) but I also struggled through this quarter finding out I was pregnant literately day 1 of winter quarter.

I slacked big time pretty much until midterms, not going to lie... between the shitty weather (no one likes winter time come on, I know I have at least a mild form of SAD) and everything going on in my personal life, I just... slacked. But I had a come to jesus with myself after midterms and worked my ASS off until literately the very end...

And I ended up with a 3.8 for the quarter, and I am reeling. One class, I'm not even sure how I managed the grade I did cos by my calculations I should not have gotten nearly what I did but I won't ask why, I will just be grateful.

So even though I don't get to go to Colombia next week, I am satisfied knowing that I rock.

I'm going to rest and get my mind right over break instead cos next quarter I start a new job, new research/lab hours, plus I'm taking 25 credit hours... total FML situation.

Yayyyy, yes, you do rock! I love getting back final grades, even if it kills me for the days leading up to it, and this quarter I've definitely slacked a bit compared to other ones. So let's hope I have similar luck, and good job to you for making radical grades! I'm not going to lie, getting high marks is like my heroin.

Seriously though, I have been out of school for 3 years this year and totally freaking out because I want to start studying and know it's gonna be freaking tough getting back into the swing of things. Bummer. Ha.

A perfect (as in all A's) is a 4.0. Each grade (A, A-, B+, B, B-, and so on) is weighted something a little different and it pretty much depends on the uni as to how it works, because some schools just do A, B, C, D, and F - no + or - also, so in a scale like that, an A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, you get the picture. So say you have 4 regular classes (gets complicated if you take a 2 credit hour class or something that only meets once a week or something cos those are weighted differently) under that scale... You get 2 A's, a B and a C... that would be 4+4+3+2= 13 so you took 4 classes, and your GPA for the term would be 13/4= 3.25. They they calculate it into your OVERALL GPA with your overall average plus your new completed classes added in.

It gets trickier n the +/- situation, which is what my school does... an A = 4.0, A- is something like a 3.7, a B+ is a 3.3, a B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, etc.

I have an excel spreadsheet with all the calculations already factored in so all I ever have to input is my classes, their weight, and the grade, plus credit hours earned so far, and my current GPA.... it will then calculate my new cumulative GPA.

It sounds complicated kind of but it's really not haha.
