what the hell is it?
ive been looking at that picture for 5 mins and i cant understand it,,,?
my first week of uni was shite, i had no money so i couldnt go out, and even if i did the booze was expensive, people at uni were typical drunk assholes and the music/entertainment was lame. so instead i smoked a lot, made some 1 week freinds and listened to my own music. the alternative freshers week was in my room, for people not into hiphop/rnb/drinking so much you puke/kissing random people/making a twat out of yourself. (if anyones ever been to essex/yates/weatherspoons in the uk you know the score)
i generally found uni life to be very overrated and people at my uni seemed to think uni was like in those awful american teen films where its a barrel of laughs. well, i guess its fun if your living of mum and dads money but for some of us, a 6 pack of doritos, butter, and a kilo of rice and below par hashish was par for the course! (this was h'actually what i lived off each week in december. sometimes id swap the butter for cheese for 'variation' but really, i lived on bowls of rice with butter and doritos for a while!)
i did, however make some of my best freinds and had my best moments while at uni...they just happened outside of campus!! i dont really have any freinds from uni, only a few, and i only graduated this year! but i made all my freinds close to me now while at uni and just remember that life doesnt begin or end at uni, theres waaay better things out there ! i was ust unlucky that i
a. went to the right uni for the course (which turned out to be the wrong course, but i completed and enjoted nonetheless). however i went to the wrong uni for the sort of nightlife/freindships i was after.
b. i was very ill for the first year and spent most of the time in bed, at my mums or at doctors/hospital.
c. in the second year i lived with my fella at the time who was a local but not at uni, as i didnt know anyone to house share with. big mistake - i spent no time socialising at uni as we lived in the middle of no where and a cab home from uni was 20quid so no way of getting out
d. last year was wicked - all the people id said hi to over the last two years came forward and became my friends - these are the people on my wavelegnth and who i can share all my interests with, is a shame so late but a tip on this one - i can bet that people you call your best freinds in first year will be distant memories.
good luck, and to whoever said dont sabotage your education for fun, this is so true. i didnt, but i saw many people fail who should have got through due to alcohol / drug abuse or whatever. i used to work solidy in the week, and not touch the pc on the weekend. this was a good balance for me - find he right balance for you and your on to a winner!
