So I'm graduating from school with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 3 months so I have been looking for a job........... On friday I got a job offer to be a designer with a major automotive manufacturer!!!
But thats not what I'm posting to tell you. The AMAZING part is that they went along with my request to not start work untill the end of August. Since I'm graduating in June 12 and I don't start work untill August 23, at the earliest, I have about 10 weeks off. The icing on the cake is that my signing/relocation allowance is big enough for me to travel around Europe for most of that 10 weeks.
I just thought I would let you know that I'm THRILLED about it. Some of my friends apppreciate the significance of this situation but I'm sure all of you guys/girls will know how big this is for me.
TIME TO START PLANNING and buying tickets..........or maybe I should call them back first to accept the job before I start spending money they havent given me yet.
hahah
Later,
Andy

Congrats Hughes! I know how you feel slaving away for the last 4-5 years in Engineering school.. Isn't it great to be done with it? I have six weeks left of this crud then i'm done forever..or until grad school (blah).
I'm thankfully fortunate as well to be starting a few months after graduation. Enjoy your time off.. I couldn't imagine starting my 9-5 corporate slave life without doing something big like a trip to Europe.

Hughes9115 congratulations on your future graduation!
I know how that feels, I graduated in 2002 as an electrical engineer, and I did a trip to europe for 2 months, and it was great.
one tip to you. I suggest you take your Engineering in Training (EIT) test early, I dont know if your job requires it or not. But its good to take it now, that everything you have studied is fresh in your mind.

^ Agreed. Take the EIT now, cuz 5 years from now you won't know a standard deviation from a deviated septum. I'm not saying it will necessarily help you all that much later, but you might as well just do it now to be safe - especially conisdering the passing rate is in the upper 90% when taken before graduation. At least it can't hurt.
Now, as far as going for a P.E. - well, that's a different story. Good luck on that one, fellas, lol!
