I just turned 46! 20's NOTHING! You are only as old as you let yourself be! Enjoy your life & ignore the numbers.

^^ Must sounds weird coming from an 18yr old, but when I picture myself getting older, I picture a black hole!! It totally freaks me out!
On a different note: Wow, everybody has had an amazing year!!
Dont worry Adam, im sure next year will be alot better than this year.

You are correct, 20 isn't that bad. I can't help but think I may be seeing a grey hair or two in the next few years.

I think of my years in terms of school years, so it's so hard to think of what happened what I consider to be "last year"!
- April: got a sweet scholarship to my school (SMCM)
- May: reconnected with my friend Gerard who I met online a few years ago
- June: I graduated high school with honors and was the primary speaker at the ceremony (HOLY SHIT THAT WAS THIS YEAR??)
- June/July: Went to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales!
- Aug 11: Turned 18!
- Aug 16?: Got my first tattoo!
- Aug 28: started college (St. Mary's College of MD, bitches!)
- Sept: first college party
- Oct: first hangover
- Nov: first weekend trip with a friend... (Philly... it kind of failed, though...
next time I'm going solo, or at least going with someone who likes history!!)
- Dec: got a 4.0 for the first time EVER!! And aced all my finals
Overall, I met a lot of great people, had great conversations, ate awesome food, saw amazing places and had an overall good time. Money was short, but when is it not when you're a college student! :P

The highlights of my 2008 were:
- Became a climbing bum - I spent 2.5 months living in a tent and climbing every day.
- I climbed a decent length rock route - 600 metres, in one day, and I led all but one pitch, the last two in the dark!
- I quit my job and moved to another country - Canada.
- I started ice climbing.
- I spent Christmas with a french speaking family...and I don't speak french.
2008 was a bloody great year! But, I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be even better, I don't know why I think this, I just do.

Hmm, I think my year was kind of boring really...
- January I started to learn French, which I had taken in high school but hadn't thought about in 10 years. Unfortunately my new job's schedule is too erratic to take classes any further...
- April I got laid off
- June I got my new job, but my start date was only 9 days later
- Since I had saved almost 5 weeks of vacation at my old job and lost it, I booked a 9pm flight for the next day at 9am to Ecuador...had a great time!
- July - Began my quest for a work visa in Australia by applying for a skills assessment
- July - Met Matt/Xanthuos on a trip to Philly
- August - Met Matt/mbo108, his wife, and Michelle/mushroom22 on a trip to Philly
- September - Went to France
- September - Met Jen, worldwidemike, vancouverabby, jill, beth, c0urt, Jake, Jeanie, and I'm sorry if I forgot anyone
- September - Skills assessment approved & visa application lodged
- And after that just the usual holidays back in Ann Arbor

Highlights of 2008:
- Finally hiking the Inca Trail and being the first hiker to see Macchu Picchu from the Sun Gate on a crystal clear morning.
- Learning I could outrun/outhike people 20 years my junior to BE the first one there.
- Starting to feel comfortable with my decision to retire from the airline in 2010 and become a school teacher (all my instructors have been praising my classwork, and I'm beginning to really believe I can do this!).
- Finding cool places to visit no matter which country I go to (Lake Bled in Slovenia, Viking Ship Museum in Denmark, Arawak Indian cave in Aruba).

bump for this thread since i havn't been on the boards in a while
but.......... 2008 rocked (well the second half)
January - decided work and life sucks, started to save....
Febuary - July --- nothing !
August - got on a plane and went to Rome
September 20th - ran out of money in Berlin (managed 12 countrys)
September 21st - decided against going home, went to Rome again
End of September - met loads of mates, went out drinking lots, met some great girls. got a job
Mid October - quit my job because it kind of sucked, and the owner was a nutter. got a new job working at the Vatican and made lots of money
December - the money dried up at the Vatican (no tourists in winter) so i got another job in a new hostel.
December 25th - first xmas away from home, partied all night
December 31st - saw in the new year at the Colloseum
And since then the fun has continued
and im still travelling, going to Zurich in a few weeks and then planning on Thailand by the end of August followed by seeing next year start in Sydney or Melbourne
