youve all made me want to have a glass of milk now! havent drank milk for years but used to have at least 2 glasses a day.

Now i drink loads of water, normally with gas at work at tap water at home. i never buy any other drinks, which is kind of awkward when you have visitors..."would you like a drink?"..."sure, what do you have?"..."err...tap water, or fizzy water...or...nope, thats all ive got!"

tw, the word you want for tap water in restaurants in germany is "Leitungswasser" that should be normal water with no gas.

I drink a ton of water here at work all day long since I am near the water machine. So here at work I go through msotly what could be considered bottled. I mean, its right there. At home though I don't mind tap and will drinka glass or two of that a night as well. My girlfriend always has bottled around so if she has one opened I will drink hers sometimes but I am not that dead set on having to have it one way or the other.

I do have a question though, some of you mentioned gas water or water with gas etc. What does that mean?

I drink from the tap if a) the locals say it's alright AND B) it looks clean. Otherwise I buy a 2-litre bottle in the morning and carry it around in my backpack, I then generally drink the first litre really quickly to reduce the weight. I'm usually in poor countries where the bottle only costs around 20pence anyway.

I tend to drink a lot of water if I have it with me. If the tap water's ok, then I fill up a 1.5L bottle & will probably drink 1-3 of those a day, depending on the day. At home, I dont really know how much I drink, I tend to just fill up a large glass and keep refilling

That's hilarious.
I don't know how many bottles of water I threw away in south america cause they served it gas. It tripped me out cause Sim Gas was no gas and Con Gas was with gas even though Sim means yes... or something retarded like that. It took me weeks to figure out which was which. several very dehydrated weeks....

I drink water almost exclusively now. Kicked my caffiene habit (Coca Cola you sweet bastard)

Yeah I hear that! I was totally hooked on Coca Cola its been a long time since I drank it but I still crave it at times.
As for water I am non too bothered. Usually tap is OK. Obviously when I was in China it was bottled or nothing.
Juice or milk is also good.

Thanks Freakypete, I've committed that to memory now, so I'll try it out next time we eat out. We live between Gerolstein (home of Gerolsteiner bottled water - with gas) and Bitburg (bottler of Gerolsteiner bottled water - with gas) and our landlord works for Bitburger (bottler of aforementioned water, as well as beer) so we frequently receive crates of both, and EVERYONE in this part of the world drinks the fizzy stuff. Bleck. And that horrible apple juice/mineral water blend. Ugh.

I save the water for parties, and then pour the remains on the plants. They seem to enjoy the lift...

Oh TW, I'm quite jealous. I absolutely love water with gas (sparkling/mineral). I'm also very, very jealous that your landlord works for Bitburger. When we were in Germany, saying "still wasser" usually worked. Well, sometimes - then it would turn into a mumble of bad German (me) and bad English (them). The Apfelsaft stuff is really terrible though.

Yeah, I got those confused as well in Spain. Bough a whole thing of what I thought was sparkling lemonade and it was just nasty canned lemonade. My brother and Jake were like "oh we thoguht you knew that - it san sim gas."

We have one of those...tank thingies.... that you see in like waiting rooms?

I dont like the tap... It just tastes metallic, but ill drink it if i have to.

I drink more when I have a watrer bottle because then i just refill it and ill keep drinking. If I stay home I don't really think about it, and dont drink enough at all...

Agua con gas es el diablo! Carbonated water should be un-invented, and those that invented it forever shunned from memory.

Hear, hear! I couldn't agree more. The most vile version I've ever tasted was back in the USSR, when they tried to serve us stuff that must have come straight from the Dead Sea, with a dollop of bubbles, just for fun. The best part was when they told us, straightfaced, that it was "good for the digestion". I couldn't understand how after drinking a bottle of water, I could be so much thirstier than before. Bleeech!

I hate tap water, I don't know how it's done everywhere else but they put clorene, floride or other manky chemicals in the water here. They have a filtered water machine at the local supermarket where you can get 5 litres for €1.20 which is fairly cheep. If I could be arsed I could get proper spring water about a mile out the road, there's natural springs all over this area of the country.

Reverse Osmosis my friends. It's the only way to get the purest water available.

The water in my house is absolutely disgusting although not as bad as when i lived in Portsmouth as a kid...was just full of chalk and lime! Beth and Anthon will tell you how much tea i drink!
i love fizzy water i think its really refreshing if ou have had something to eat and its the only water i will drink cold I will never have a bottle of water from the fridge its just too cold, however i do like cans (usually beer) from the fridge
