So, out of my pure unadulterated singing talent, I managed to win 2 plane tickets to anywhere in the US, Canada, Mexico, South and Central America, and Alaska that Continental airlines flies.
...the problem is, I DONT KNOW WHERE TO GO!!!
If I could fly to Asia...there would be no problem (Japan) ...but since I cant, Im at a loss.
I wanted to do Alaska, but hub doesnt want to freeze his butt off (wimp)
He wants to go to Hawaii.
I thought about Rio De Janiero...but I dont know if I want to mess around in South America...
...anyway, any ideas guys?

Is the Caribbean included? Then you can have the whole tropical aspect of Hawaii, without the exorbitant prices. Coastal locations in Central America are cool, as well.
Congrats on the win!!

Congrats!! That's def. exciting... What about Mexico? Do you know how long you can stay? I would probably go to Mexico and check out the Yucatan peninsula and all that... Se all the Mayan and/or Aztec sites... Something I've always wanted to do, but I have no idea what the price range would be...

Haha I'd go where the flight costs the most... get the most for your money... trips to the caribbean are fairly cheap (even from Canada) but get the most out your money! pick the most expensive flight you're allowed and go and see what you find!!

Okay, you probably have to use a hub and then take a chartern plane, but I'd do Galapogos Islands. My dream. Anyhow, I would so do somewhere in Central America that fits your interests. Alaska would rock though!

I agree with MG. In that regard, flying to South America probably gets you the most bang for your buck. There is much more to South America than just Rio (but hey, it's high on my to-do list - still worth a look). Were I you, I would check out S.A. because given the price of flights down there, that would seem to me to be the least likely place you would be able to go yourself in the future. Flying to Mexico and the Carribean are fairly reasonable and could be done anytime IMHO. A $1,200 plane ticket to S.A., though......maybe not. Whatever you pick, good luck!

Congrats! That's awesome. I'd hit them up for the max...fly to Patagonia! And for hubby's sake, do it in our winter, South America's summer...
And then arrange the flights to do a little layover in Buenos Aires and you'll get culture, amazing scenery and all for free!

I'd have to weigh in with MG et al - go as far away as you can, and somewhere you'd probably never get a chance to go again. I like the Patagonia suggestion, but I'm the gal who's dream vacation is a cruise to Antarctica. The Galapagos would also be cool, though maybe costlier for you (since Continental probably doesn't have a hub there!)
I'd be inclined to pick somewhere a little obscure - Uruguay? Paraguay? and see something not everyone else does. What a dream come true - have fun wherever!

GO TO RIO!!
I am going BACK there on this 3 month SA trip because, for me, it is paradise. It is relatively cheap, perfect weather, and flights are expensive.
Thats my 2 centavos

That's actually my favorite state. Maybe because I'm on the border and go there for my Target fix, good old Grand Forks!
But it's always been my dream to check out Costa Rica or Brazil. Not much of a help, but like others are saying, I'd go somewhere outsite the US/Canada. Let us know what you come up with!

I'd say it depends on the time of year you are going. If you want to go to Alaska, go in the summer when it is warmer. Alaska has some of the best wildlife you will ever see.
If alaska is out, I'd go to the most exotic place I can. Someplace tropical.
