I think that naming your kid some obscure made up word should be considered a form of child abuse, but I don't make laws, so my opinion doesn't matter. Anyhow, I was surfing my hometown online newspaper and found the popular names of '05. Then, they listed the "unique" names. What were they thinking? I realize some "funny" sounding names are "cultural," so I forgive those (in most cases), but some are so ridiculous, I just feel so bad for the kid.
Here they are from my hometown. I'm guessing a lot of these were teen parents.
Stand outs

Anyone else have any good ones?

Trygve.
Yeah, many of those I recognize as being of Arabic/Urdu/Hindu origin, so that's not altogether surprising. I was shopping one day and saw a cute little boy, about 8 or so, carrying a cute little girl, about 2 or so... the lady at the checkstand said "What's your sister's name?" The reply? "Tarjayah." Good gad.
Working in a hotel and constantly seeing lists of names-- clients, guests, et al-- and man oh MAN have I come across some doozies! The standout so far?
"Brayne Greinder". And yes, that was his real name. The desk agents checked his ID.

My niece is going to be called Riley were just waiting for to come (there in the delivery room) as for other names I'm amazed at some of my customers names like Toony Loony (yes an actual persons name her parents must have been mean)

I went to school with a Liberty Bell. Not quite as mean as Loony Toony though...

My cousin used to be a labour and delivery nurse in Texas. She was looking after this young teenage mother who had twin boys. Named them...wait for it....
Lemonjello and Orangejello. Except it was pronounced all fancy like "lemawngello" and "orawngegello" with soft sounding g's. Yep...child abuse.
I myself like unique names, but not that unique!

Or just marry a guy named Mr. Wayne...
Giulia is actually (in my opinion) very pretty... It's pronounced Jew-lee-uh..
Anyhow... Apple. What kind of person names their child after FRUIT?! Love Chris Martin and all... but that was just too unique...
Not really a name, but ever since my friend Glorianna (Glo) and I joined the Drama dept. (together... and doing the same exact job... and arriving and leaving together), we have been dubbed "Glulianna"... The sad part is when I actually respond to it

Yeah that's right up there with Keayrah. I'll never understand having to spell it different. I guess I'm just bound to screw up my child's psyche by not giving him/her their own identity.

My mate's brother went to school with a kid named Killem...no joke, that was his name and it was pronounced "kill em"....crazy parents.
Another one of my mate's brothers named his kid Solja.
Another good one, my old english teacher told us of a girl he went to school with, her name was Phillipa Box. Poor girl, he said she used to cop a lot of shit for that name.

Not odd, they sound like very American names to me. Not saying that's a bad thing or anything, that's just what they sound like to me.

I admit it is strange looking, but it's just the Italian way to spell it... Though if you're in the U.S. and you're not Italian... might be a bit strange...
