Angry

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I joined recently because several of my friends persisted. I wish I hadn't given in though. I hate it. It seems like a zoo of over-sexed socially retarded people....well not everyone, but that seems to be tha main drive of it.

Thoughts?

Yeah it's pretty stupid. Too many high school drama queens and crappy bands. It's still nice when you find someone from high school through it.

But then I've also had this guy message me saying "Hey I saw you at Wawa last night. What's up". Kinda....ok really creepy!

I thought so too but now it's growing on me... I find so many people there and it's interesting on some level. I found my best friend from 4th grade (over 6 years ago) from before I moved. I simply typed in her name and there she was...

Not a great site to meet new people, but great to find old ones and keep in touch with current ones...

I don't know about other bands, but a local band from my school (Waiting For Tom) has a myspace and they're pretty good... Again I haven't heard a lot of myspace bands so I can't really judge...

Yeah I agree myspace is pretty lame. I only like to use it because I was able to find alot of my old classmates and to read some of the group forums. Some of its kind of disturbing. You see these 13 year old girls with half naked shots

JOIN THE RESISTANCE!

I refuse to register there. I have clicked countless links now that have led me to a myspace page and when I try to view more pics or read the journal and it tells me to register I tell it to go jump off a cliff.

I refuse to give them my info just so I can see some lame asses picture.

*side note - 16 hour shift today. tonights posts by me will all be a little over zealous!

I'm on there mainly to keep up with a couple local bands I like.

Other than that, it breeds a collective society of morons.

I've managed to avoid the whole myspace thing (I'm still not even sure what it actually is and have never been to the site) as well as facebook (popular among college/uni students up here in canada), mostly because it seems pointless. most people i know just use it to talk to friends in their own city and get their face on the internet (my opinion). I have better stuff to do with my time (like write and make money so I can travel).

i actually saw this post and was like "oh yeah, i sigend up for myspace...i wonder what happened?" and signed back on. having moved around and jumped betweened so many different "worlds" in the last 7-8 years, i was so stoked to be getting in contact with so many old friends. i think it's great for that fact. where else can you do that when you travel around like i do?

oh yeah, my myspace is....fuck it!

I thought it was lame at first to man. Sure there are a lot of lame people there but who cares? Stay away from em'. I have run into some oooold friends of mine. I mean people I haven't seen in 5+ years And you know what? I found a friend who I haven't seen in many moons. He lives in Taiwan and has invited me to stay with him. He even said he could show me how to LIVE there. So now I'm taking my first trip out of the country to Taiwan. Probably the beginning of next year. So myspace sucks? Not so much anymore.

I'm on facebook ....(I have to admit, as lame as it sounds it is fun seeing what high school friends/acquaintances who you haven't talked to in 5 years are doing)

I have been against myspace though for the reasons I mentioned. I actually know this guy who has met people on myspace to just hook up with them and maybe hearing that just made me think it's.....dirty or something.

Lauren, seriously. We need to be facebook friends. My last name's Poppy at University of Texas. Woot.
I have a big problem with blogs, so Im going to rant a bit here.
<rant> Firstly, most of the blogs(myspace, livejournal, xanga...) made by people I know are just them talking about what they do every day. I dont care what you ate for lunch, I dont want to listen to you whine about going to classes, I dont want to hear you obsess over every detail of your latest crush. I get enough of that in person, and everyday life is kind of lame.
Secondly, for some reason (possibly because most of my friends are chicks) the blog is evil evil evil in starting and spreading drama. Its disgusting. I cant stand it.
All that said, I think travel blogs are a great idea. Especially if the person is even remotely perspicacious. Its nicer than a group email, and easier than writing to every single person you know who wants to hear about you. So when I graduate and kick the dust of my motherland from my feet, I'll have one. No doubt.
</rant>

I guess finding old friends is the one thing that myspace is good for. I just can't get into it though...

People have told me that myspace is great for meeting members of the opposite sex, and I've laughed when I've seen people describe members as "oversexed" like you did, Anthon. For whatever reason, I've just not entered that arena of MySpace. I use it stay in touch with friends, just like I use facebook. So many people said facebook and myspace were addicting, yet I've yet to suffer such. At least in the facebook sense, perhaps it's because I'm not in school - so I'm not as well-connected into it as others are.

In general though, I've had good experiences with myspace and facebook...like any other website, it's what you make of it. Sure, there are retarded people on there - but you won't find any of them on my friends list! OK, maybe one or two, but that's it

Oh, and for anyone who wants to be and friend me ...
