Well to be totally honest, this is going to be a bit of a rant. But, last Friday one of my best friends passed away, a friend that was supposed to accompany me to SE Asia in a couple of months. Whenever we hung out, that is all we would talk about, the possibilities and the adventures to come. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you have any desire to go and experience anything, especially travel, do it now. He was so conserned about getting his business going, he would always say that their will always be time. Don't wait to make your first million or pay off that car. You never know how much time you have in this world and I guarentee that your dream trip will far outweigh any car or house. What hurts most is the thought of the look on his face when we would talk about our trip. When I leave eventually for the trip that he was supposed to come with me on, it is going to be very hard. I guess I am just going to have to think about his heaven looking a lot like Thailand and him being by my side while I am there. Sorry about that, I just had some thought that I really needed to get off my chest.

ryandl i'm really glad that you posted that esp. now. i'm sorry for your loss, but i'm glad to know that you're still going on with the trip that your friend was looking forward to...

my favorite cousin is sort of going through that right now. My parents would always invite him to come over here to the U.S. and he always said later later later and now the found a brain tumor and he can't do an extensive travelling. I was talking to him and he said that the thing that makes him saddist is that he put so many things off (like coming over to the U.S.) because of things he saw as more important and now that this has happened don't seem important at all.

thanks again ryandl. sorry for your loss

I am sorry about your friend...and I completely agree with the tone of your post. I am one of those people that really does try to live my days to the fullest and live my life dreams now as opposed to waiting for better or more convenient times.

Also offering condolences for you loss. It has to be really hard to be young and lose a close friend. I share Benna's views in living every day to the fullest (trying to anyways) and appreciating everything.

Thank you all for the kind words. It has been a tough couple of days but it's given me a lot more motivation to go and do some of the things that I want to do in my life. It's really made me realize that we need to take advantage of what we have and not put life on hold.

Wow, dude. Thats really heavy...I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. There's no doubt in my mind he'll be watching over you as you travel through Thailand. Although he can't be there with you in body, he'll be with you in spirit.

He will be with you every time you do something that you could have put off, but didn't because of his memory. Life is shorter than any of us realize...later could be never.

I feel for ya man. It is hard to lose anyone close to you. I know it's hard just try not to let it get ya down. Just remember when you're out there traveling now you're doing it for both of ya.
