I usually travel in the off-season, so I haven't dealt with terribly-hot temperatures while backpacking.

Well seeing as how I live in just about the hottest climate in the United States, heat is relative.

48 degrees C in Seville Spain, which is well over 100 F. I was only there for one day and wanted to see the city so I struggled through it, with the help of slushies and the sprinklers in the park.

Uhm... 122 fahrenheit ... so like 50 celsius (or 323 Kelvin)
I was on a mission, destroying weapons cache's here, so I was working in full body armor (40 lbs) helmet and gloves... that was the most miserable 3 days of my life.... my uniform literally slunk off into a corner when I finally got back!

Like Somnambulation my hottest was in Seville. I got off the bus and one of those electronic boards showed 52 Degrees Celsius, I sometimes wondered about the accuracy of those but!

Somehow I usually end up living in the hot ass places (louisiana, malta, spain, belize) - and I HATE the heat (and it hates me!). So I try to go in the off seasons. Fall is my favorite time to travel.

You all have me beat. At least in terms of overseas travel. Hottest it got was probably somewhere in the mid to high 30's in Barcelona in late August or Southern Germany in late July. They seemed to be going through a heat wave and the Irish couple I was with when I was there were dying. While Canada's cold, we have our fair share of heat waves. A couple years ago I was travelling by train out to the East coast and stopped in Montreal for a few days to visit a friend. It got up around 41 or 42 celsius. I was packing my bag before I left for Halifax and was dripping sweat on all my clean clothes!

fall and spring are fine, but I LOVE being really warm so the heat doesn't bother me that much, though I haven't been in really extreme temperatures yet. Anything 15 C and up is great for me, but I HATE the dead cold winter. The winter scenery is nice, but the cold is horrible.

Around 50 C in Morocco during July. :greenguy:
I just remember sweating so much that even though I was dripping, I got used to it. You'd take a freezing cold shower only to be sweating as soon as you got out. And I ALWAYS had water with me.
DAMN that was hot! The only reason you can do it is b/c there is no humidity!

humidity is that WORST. ugh...
Well, I guess why I hate summer so much is because it's always so damn humid here. Also I wear jeans in the summer... In Brazil I was fine and it reached up to 30 degrees on most days...
I figure winter is best because you can't get cold in the summer, but you can easily get warm in the winter. I just hate winter clothing...
Ugh... I guess I'm just going to have to move so someplace with perfect weather... Any suggestions?

Humidity sucks... thats why Spain wasn't too bad because it was hot but not always humid.
