Yikes.
I've heard of something like this before, a mentally ill man had about 275 of 'em living in his house and he was forced to move into the garage until the ASPCA rescued him...

For some reason this has become more and more popular. I know Fark.com has them all the time. No idea why people let it get to this point but usually there is only one person living there. In this case there were three. I wonder how many they have had that have just run away etc ? That would have put the total well over 300 posibly.

^ Of course I did-- it's made by Archie McPhee, my favorite local retailer.
Gave a couple of those to one or two friends for Christmas as a warning...

There has been a lot of that lately. They just had the exact same thing in Boston. The article was virtually identical, just replace Virginia with Boston.
What is it with people going nutty with cats???????

predisposition i guess.
there is an unusually high correlation between number of cats owned and insanity points.
i'm waiting for the day the "crazy dog lady" makes the news.

These are such sad stories... I don't know what's worst: the fact that people with obvious mental health problems aren't properly taken care of or the unfortunate and often unintentional abuse of these animals.

i dont know who i'm more upset at..that lady or the ppl that made the decision to put them down. in college, i worked at the humane society and was always so pissed off at the shelter manager...who made the \"red ink\" decision to put a certain animal down.
|
as a son of a vet i'm real not fussed when an animal is put down.... it pisses me off, no irritates me, when people keep them alive

yeah, i know what you mean. what initially surprised me was everyone's "no skin off my nose" attitude when an animal had to be put down. but i quickly realized that that's the only way to deal with everything that goes on at an animal shelter.
u get a tough skin when you see so many animals die everyday. the shock i had (and still felt even after becoming a seasoned employee) was everyone's lax attitude with the loss of life. it's a precious, and amazing thing..and to see it slip so quickly at the hands of people is a truly confusing experience. no matter what the reasons are, and what good intentions there are behind it.

I'm sure if the cats were all inbred and unhealthy they would have to be put down...I am an animal lover myself but there wasn't much they could probably do about it.
