yeah, i have decided to get a tattoo. i am not really concerned about what of, i mainly want to go through the experience. one idea i had was of getting an outline of the continental US on my back, between my shoulder blades. then i could have one of those dotted-line dealys on my back, showing what cool places i have gone to. that would be FUN.
any idea on design/location/decision??

I think you should get a tattoo of Omi's ticker on your back. That would freak some people out.
Seriously though, I think you should try to pick something very personal and unique to you. Design it yourself if you can. Otherwise, you might get sick of it down the road.
If nothing else comes to mind, get the Travelpunk logo with Elixir in the bottom of the red ring.

yeah, i've been trying to find a good tat to get for bloody ages, i haven't found anything that really works for me yet. I've had numerous attempts at designing one myself and have come up with some ok ones, but i'm not really the artistic type so its a struggle. I reckon the US map idea sounds pretty cool, i've never seen anyone with something like that, unique is always good.

I'm thinking of getting the outline of a Hibiscus Flower on my lower back one day... I get really bored of things quick though... and tatoo's are soooo permanent. I dunno.
Get something that means something to you....

why do people find it so hard to tell what elixir's avatar is?? It's a chick's ass in some nice underware. I guess you have to be a porn connaisseur to be able to easily tell what it is

yeah, I agree on getting something personal and designing it yourself....or modifying a tattoo you like.
bmezine.com should give you some ideas.
I have 7 right now....plans for the future include finishing my right half sleeve (adding colour mostly and touchups), finishing off my left half sleeve with a newfoundland map coloured in pink, white and green (republic colours), some japanese style waves and something else I haven't decided on (maybe something to do with my kid). myself and my wife plan on getting the infinity symbol done underneath our rings too.

I didn't realize that it was difficult to tell what it was... is it just a guy thing that we can tell right away?

How 'bout a tattoo on your butt - of a butt - with a tattoo of a butt on it?

I got my first one yesterday.
I think it looks pretty good, especially considering that it is still healing.

So Carter, where ya from?
I am a female (well my husband thinks so anyway ) and it really didn't take but a sec to figure out what Elixers avatar is. If my butt was that nice, it would be my avatar!!
I agree about the tats - make sure it's something you can picture yourself with in 10, 20, 40, 60 years. Apparently the process of taking them off is a lot more painful then putting em on and being the big baby I am, the putting on process was bad enough. Dry socket is still more painful. I really like your idea though.

Actually I'm from Louisiana.
Keep constantly finding myself back in Arkansas though. I've had many life changing experiences and some of the best times of my life here, Arkansas is probablly the best kept secret in the U.S. when it comes to outdoor recreation. Also my mom's side of the family is originally from Arkansas. I have many reasons for the tattoo, plus i'm hoping it will be a good conversation piece, lots of people seem to put a great deal of emphasis/importance on their country's flag but very few people seem to enjoy showing of the flag of their favorite and/or home state.

True - I regularly get brochures for outdoor adventure type travel in Arkansas, and the pictures never fail to astound me.
Actually, one of the tattoo designs I've been trying to concoct is one that has flag elements from every place I've lived. The trick is to leave the design open enough so that I can add more elements if I move again...

yeah, and for every place they show and tell you about in those brochures there are at least 10 places twice as beautiful that we don't want to tell you guys about.
For someone's first Arkansas trip I would probablly just suggest a multi-day float on the Buffalo National River. You'd come back for sure after that.
Sounds like a cool Tattoo idea, I have always liked flags as a representation of places because of the way every little thing on them tends to mean something specific. You should go talk to a tattoo artist if you haven't allready, you might not neccessarily have to leave it 'open' for new additions, they could also partially cover old parts up to fit new additions in. I was talking with the guy who did mine about his tats and was suprised to find out exactly how many changes can be made by simply covering old parts up with new ink.
