hey everyone, i'm in high school, and am planning a cool summer! yay! i have no idea what to choose though!! ahh!!! help me choose!! i've tried for a month and it's getting harder, haha.
Choice #1:
Biarritz, France
-awesome surfer town
-learn to surf
-2 weeks
-i'm really good at french already so my mom would support me going
-i'd get to take the train(from paris) and see a lot of france, which i'm really excited to do #1 because i've never taken train before besides a subway #2 because i think it'd be really cool to see a lot of france that way
-i'd live with a family, which i don't see as a good thing, because then it's more controlled and stuff, im not going to this summer to see family life really, i'm planning on a year long exchange to portugal in a couple years and i can see families and stuff there, this trip i want to be more about having fun. there would be 1-2 other european high school kids living there with me.
Tarragona, Spain
-2 weeks
-50 miles down the coast from Barcelona
-150,000 people in town
-live in an apartment complex with 175 other european high school kids
-MUCH more freedom
-my mom wouldn't support it so much because i've only had 1 year of spanish and can't speak it that well, but she wants me to improve my french more because im really close to being fluent....sorta...well, more so then spanish
-i'd have to fly and not really see any other part of europe on the way there
I DONNO!! AHH!!! haha help!!!
btw, both trip end with a week visiting my friends in london. and they both cost the same amount of money.($1500) and i just don't know.....*sigh*
thanks!!

-surfing would be really cool
Tarragona:

Tarragona...you can tell by the way you constructed the lists which one you WANT to do. Tell her the bit about the families thing...that's a reason I think a parent could go along with...

I agree with what mike said, it does seem you prefer Tara. How good are you sweet talking your mum?!
Either way I dont think you can lose. Biarritz is a really nice place. The beaches are pretty good and there's a good mix of people - you can learn both languages as its on the border. Toss a coin!

There are plenty of places to go by train to in Spain that are reeeeeallly cool. Plus, if you have the freedom that you would have in Tara, you could do overnighters to France easily.
I do agree with the part about wanting to go to France to improve your French though. I thought Spain would help me with my Spanish but all it really did was make me realize that I know more already than I think I do.
Bottom line is that either way, you can't lose, both places will be awesome. The only thing I'm curious about is your mother's "support." Does that mean if you go to Spain you will have to pay for it yourself? Or do you only mean moral support. If it's the latter, I say follow your heart. If it's the former, just remember that you'll be going back.
Good luck!

ok, so now i have biarritz crossed off my list. BUT accidentally added: Seville, San Sebastian, Vejer de la Frontera(near Gibratlar) and Greece...haha
Right now, I'm actually leaning more towards Greece, it's 6-7 weeks and it's like a traditional summer exchange thing. It sounds like a lot of fun from the people I've talked to.
Oh, and what I meant by mom's support was: either she would refuse to sign the paper to let me go, or she would refuse to put a dime to it. Which would both be a problem. haha, but now i feel really bad.
"we havent gone on vacation in a couple of years, I think that it would be really fun if we all went somewhere this summer! Like Montreal! It's French speaking and we can't go to Paris because it's too expensive." ---My mom today
and now i feel really bad though! Because she's like, all excited about traveling somewhere for the first time in like 10 years and i always go places, compared to her. ok, so now it looks like im paying for this ENTIRE summer(i'll need $5750 if i go to greece), i got a list of jobs to apply for at my school today, none of them being desirable, haha.
