Tell me people, whats the longest you've gone without having a shower? How much did you stink befor finally taking a shower? How accesable is a shower on the road?

The longest I've gone without showering would be about a week. I was camping in the Smoky Moutains and the only shower was this bug-ridden rusted water thing that cost 2 dollars for like 30 seconds of water. That got old fast.

I think I was pretty stinky when I finally got enough money in quarters to pay for the worst shower ever. Stratch that...I had a shower in the Bahamas of well water.....talk about gag reflex, yuck.

Mmmm...me, five days...I was at an action in the desert...
Phew we all got stanky that's for sure. But naturally so... most of us catwashed (definition: with what little wash water you carry you just preen da pink bits if you know what I'm sayn so since we all smelled none of us noticed!!!
The bus drivers made us all take a dip in a lake before they allowed us back on the bus heh heh heh

I must say that there is nothing wrong with a bit of good clean desert dust giving one's skin a healthy glow. I'm serious!!!

My longest was the 5 days while I was at woodstock in 99... there were like 200 showers and some 250,000 people. I didn't feel like wasting over an hour to take a shower... but you at least go to dump water on yourself.

Not really... it wasn't quite as bad as everyone made it out to be. Yeah there was looting, and yeah there were fires, but it was all kind of in that peaceful hippy way, until the armored men on the 4 wheelers came with the beating sticks and assault rifles. They weren't fun.

Yeah i've prob gone five or seven days without showering. It ain't a biggy. I just stick my hair up in a pony tail and spray myself with body spray. If I miss a shower for a day or two it isn't a big deal. (not like most of my friends who whine if they don't have a shower every day)

They make this hair spray that is supposed to make you look like you just washed your hair... probably meant for those people who whine if they don't get their shower every day . I like my shower every day, but I have been known to got 5-7 days... but I do feel really yucky at the end. Missing a shower every once in a while isn't a biggie.

WEll I have all your asses beat. I've been living at the lake for almost a month now, building a log house with three friends and thier dad. The longest i've gone without a shower was 2 and a half weeks. But you really don't notice when everyone else smells like ass. So I guess it won't be to stressfull when backpacking all over.

I spent a month and a haf living outside one summer, helping to build a cross- country jump course for a very big 3-day event (horse show.) I was with about 20 other people, mostly girls. We all slept outside with no tents, when it rained lightly we went underneath the trees a few yards away and if it rained really hard we would just kick aside the horse shit in the trailer and sleep in that. None of us had access to showers in that time, but we were able to take a quick dip in a nearby stagnant pond once. We only did it once because we ended up stinking worse than when we got in! LOL There was some ice-cold running water for spit baths, but that was all we had. It was on a navy base "survival area" on an island north of Seattle. I found out that if you are sleeping outside and it's freezing cold at night, getting a nice sunburn helps to keep you warm. LOL It was weird to sleep on a bed after that though.

So what your saying Tui, is that you lived out of the airport for all that time?

Craz-zy... but kind of a cool story all the same.

yikes, TUI, that sounds like no fun at all!!

Going a month and a half without a shower-- except for a dip in a stinking, fetid pond-- gave me an interesting perspective on a lot of things. LOL
