Default 2009 New Years Resolutions

So I thought since its New Years Eve I could kickoff the 2009 New Years Resolution Thread. Here is a link to last year's thread if you want to try to remember what you were planning on doing: http://travelpunk.com/boards/showthr...t=15424&page=4

So, me:
Once again I plan on running this year. 1100 miles to be exact, a 10% increase over last year. I also want to start working a cool new program within my company, run another marathon, finish in the top 10% of any race I enter, do that 100 pushup program, keep my email inbox under 50 messages (archive or delete but dont just let them sit there), fully contribute to my Roth IRA, and put 26 new entries into my blog.

I made a spreadsheet to track my running mileage. PM/Email me if you want a copy and I'll send it over to you. Its saved online via GoogleDocs so I can update it from anywhere which I find pretty handy. It looks like those Google Finance charts they have for stock pics where you can add notes and all.

So what is everyone else up to next year!?!?!

Matt, you have so many resolutions!!!

Mine are:

Don't be frivolous with my money. I have a really bad habit of spending for the sake of spending. I'm going to try and be good with my money.

Keep on knitting, and learning new skills to make cool things. I actually made a start on that one early, I learnt how to cable knit yesterday, which I'm pleased with!

Keep up with going to the gym and eating better. I fully expect to fail on the "eating better" aspect of this, but at least I'll be counter-acting it with the gym.

yay!!!

mine include the following:

1. actually losing 25 this year... trying a new method of blogging with my best friend in order to do so... in case you missed my one post earlier about it

2. to read 1 nonfiction book a month. I feel like I zapped some of my IQ points after the Twilight series and need to redeem myself

3. try not to get o caught up with my work. I get so involved and stressed out and take on so much that the last 2 months have been school stuff then bed. so I want to remember, in 2009, to take more time out for me

4. be less stupid with my money, bottom line.

5. go somewhere in the US I've never been

that's it.

Fuck me, I didn't finish my Peru photos from last year So I guess that one carries over.

Other than that...I want to sell my house, pay off my private student loan and get my visa approved. Not much I can actually do about that last one but if doesn't get done in 2009 it'll be agonizing! Those 3 things will basically cut all my ties so I can leave for a year+.

2009 IS going to be my year and these are my resolutions..

1. Lose the last 30 lbs & tone up by May. I've lost 60 so far so there's no reason I can't do 30!

2. Go on my first backpacking trip without getting in trouble.

3. Move to Austin, TX and go to UT .. F you Kansas!

4. Re-define my social life by actually breaking out of my shell and putting myself out there.

Good luck to you all!

I don't usually make resolutions but I have some goals for 2009.

1. Do whatever it takes to fix my knee - don't slack on my exercises and find a good doctor to help with diagnosis

2. Go camping more than once

3. Go on holiday somewhere I've never been (still planning on a Middle East trip in April - but waiting to buy tickets)

4. Go to concerts at all the cool venues in SF that I haven't taken advantage of!

Happy 2009 everyone!

1. well, i haven't been a smoker for a good 4 years now except for the occasional falling off the wagon when i decide life is too hard. but the last year i've done really well and have kept it to about 2 cigarettes a month. my resolution this year is to not even smoke one! kick it pure.

2. i'm trying the 1000 mile thing this year, (so yeah, a link to your spreadsheet would be great!).

3. do weight-training 3 days a week.

4. become competent in climbing and basic alpine techniques (i want to climb Mt Rainier, highest mountain in Washington) i might not be able to climb that this year though, but i'll have some mad skills under my belt.

5. finish my bachelors degree.

2. Try to fit in 3 trips this year.

3. Eat better and try a detox plan.

4. Do a Banff to Jasper roadtrip.

5. Maybe stop biting my nails...(probably won't happen though )

well I spent all of yesterday cleaning my entire apartment, throwing away junk, sorting things, so now everything has a proper place. so one of my resolutions is to keep the place clean and organised.

I also got really great results at uni last semester and I want to maintain a distinction average. that's going to be hard, I feel like I fluked it last semester!

this isn't really a resolution but if I am saving for a new macbook this year. I get my next scholarship payment in about april so I've decided that if I have saved enough by then I'll get it. yay.

To stretch my student loan money through the semester until I start making money in the summer. Having no girlfriend should help with this!

I resolve....

1. To lose 15 lbs once and for all.

2. To travel as much if not more than 2008.

3. To open up socially.

4. To be more organized with my things and time.

5. To figure out what I want to do professionally that will coincide with my lifestyle goals.

So let's see what 2009 will bring! Last year I resolved to travel and I did but I also resolved to lose weight and I didn't ! haha. So I'm hoping that I can stay motivated enough to lose enough weight to be happy with my physical self again.

2008 was a great year for me on many levels. I learned much about myself and about others around me. I hope that 2009 will be an even better year of discovery!

Happy 2009 everyone!

I just spent a wonderful New Years in Antigua, Guatemala and I´m most likely going to spend the entire year traveling. 3 countries down, 20 to go!

I would like to learn much, much more spanish
I would like to learn how to salsa dance.

That´s about it for me.

I don't usually do resolutions but usually have at least 1 place that I want to go to within NZ, So I guess this year mine are;

1. Finish my degree (June)
2. Move back home to save more $$ (End of the year)
3. To do more fun things (sounds weird but I havn't done much the past couple of years!).
4. To do the Tongarirro Crossing.
5. Go to OZ by myself.

I don't actually do new year's resolutions because I don't usually fulfill them... But I might as well try, no?

1. Get a 4.0 this semester. When that happens, see if I can reapply for this scholar's program at school which would mean about $3,000 more scholarship money...

2. Apply for enough private scholarships to hopefully not have to take out as many loans as I am currently (only $2,750 a semester, but I really don't want to be more than $10,000 in debt once I graduate).

3. Eat healthier. Ideally, I want to get to red meat once a week, chicken/fish two or three times a week. At least seven servings of fruits/vegetables a day. More soy milk, less cheese. Keep grains at about the same. I don't want to go completely vegetarian again, but I do want to lower my intake of animal-based foods. Oh, and eat more whole-grain foods.

4. I made a spreadsheet of books to read. I want to read a novel a month during school. Two/three a month during breaks. I haven't read much in a while, mostly because the last few strings of worth while type books (i.e. not Twilight) have been emotionally tiring. They were all good, but the whole experience was ultimately a double edged sword. Changed my life, perspective, etc., but I'm scared of getting so emotionally attached again. And on top of that, every book I've tried reading since then hasn't been as good.

5. Make use of my "secret" savings account (the one I specifically asked my bank to make impossible for me to access online). I'm also saving up for a MacBook!

6. Clean my section of the room every Sunday afternoon. Actually do my laundry before I run out of clothes.

Doable, I think.

1. To take better care of stuff I care about - body and things.

2. To look into buying a condo... the only good part about this economic crisis is its a buyer's market.
