Hurricane fever! The latest projections on tropical cyclone Hanna show it on a direct path to my little city here in NC, Wilmington. I can't figure out if we're gonna get blown away yet. The news hasn't really begun their doom and gloom predictions yet, so I'm not sure how bad or not bad its gonna be. In any case I'm sure we'll have school canceled for a day or two.

Hahaha I remember when in Fayetteville we used to have hurricane drills... my class had to get two the gym showers and it was two kids per shower...

It's crazy though... to not know if your town'll get hit or not... I hope everything turns out just fine!! I'm sending possitive vibes from down here!!

Hopefully the cooler waters of the east coast(compared to the Caribbean) would help slow down the path of any tropical disturbance. Regardless, be prepared for the worst yeah?

My Uni canceled two years ago for two days because of snow/ice. First time in 30-40 years. It was amazing, other than the fact that we had to walk to the liquor store in over a foot over snow.

Good luck! My younger cousin just started at UNC Wilmington. I remember there was a hurricane (Isabel, I think) back in 2003 that canceled a week and a half of school for me just because of all the cleanup that had to be done around campus. Hopefully the hurricane slows down a bit before it reaches you guys.

Looks like I left Fayetteville at the the right time then!!!

My cousin is in Baton Rouge and they got SLAMMED by Gusav. They said they might be without power for 4 weeks. She said Baton Rouge got worse damage this one than in Katrina. Their back yard is destroyed and her porch blew away. We overnighted her those ice packs that you can crack and then they get cold and a bunch of D batteries for fans & flashlights, and it was $115 and they couldn't even guarantee it would get there overnight.

Ridiculous!

Looks like its gonna be a category 1. Just as I said, UNCW will not have class on Friday and work's probably gonna be canceled. Too bad the power is gonna go out.
