The earliest post I can find is this one. If it's the earliest on record, it was obviously after some sort of metamorphasis. Feel free to correct me, anyone who knows better.

Yeah there was another tp.com before this one. There were some members that were on the old site but i don't know if any switched over to this one. Allz I know is when I joined up it was very lonely here!

Oh and there never used to be any general forums. Whatever was posted was just in the travel forums. Now look at how many forums there are!!

Daaaaammmmnnnn...Leeroy and Lindoro doing some detective work

Lindoro, you may be right about that post. I'm not even sure! I know that when these particular boards were installed, the first thing I tried to do was copy all posts that were of any significance from the old boards to these. That was late January of last year.

Yeah, Dio was member#11 but didn't post for a good while later It was really just Voyd and I staying active on the boards. In fact, I registered a bunch of different names pretending to be other travelers asking questions, then posting a response under my name to make it look like others were hanging around here asking questions .................... .....a sales technique

This was the FIRST ORIGINAL BOARDS, then went to another style from my old hosting company. I couldn't make those look appealing enough, then switched back to the first again, before finally finding the present boards that I totally dig .

Ahhhh....the humble beginnings of a future giant B)

Cool... That old msg board was madtown 80's style...

its great to see how far things have come, and exciting to think what the future holds for this online community of travellers...

Imagine a huge global army of travelpunkers, 1000 times bigger than what we have now... Thats some serious bargaining power.

Look out world...

Because there was no one here!! hehe But I joined cuz I saw your post on the lonely planet tree about "this awesome new site" and I thought it had potential. But I kept checking back to see if it had any action. And I think I starting posting like a month or two later. Just wanted to make sure you peeps were cool.

You can definitely feel the site getting busier, virtually by the day, and its awesome to see something evolve like that.
When did you first start this site TP? On this new format i mean, not the original old school one.

There are definately more people every day, and I've only been here for a little more than a month. You can feel people getting pulled in... kicking and screaming

Explanation:

In saying, "or is joanofarc spending a lot more time posting" was meaning, was she really behind all these new TP members...

ah well, nevermind. I can never explain myself at the best of times.

Yah, bra - I remember those days fondly, or not-so-fondly. Remember the analogy I gave you about high school dance and critical mass? Well, we kept the faith and with the help of the DIOMOC invasion, CD, WWM and other vets, LOOK AT US NOW!

But I was also a member of the old boards - your story helped inspire me to make my first backpacking trip, Tone! Then only later I found out that it was you who wrote it. Yes, 1 person can make a difference. So, props bro!
