Even things like the Google and Yahoo toolbars that get added to your web browser can cause issues at times. I always make sure I unistall those through the control panel as well if they accidentally get loaded (which they invariably do).

well as much as I bragged about my HP, it is officially in the process of shitting the bed. it is freezing longer and now i have like a minute maybe in between "freeze times" and it's so frustrating cos no one here can fix my computer!!! I'm about to back up on my external and reset the whole thing with the reboot discs... last time I did this on my dell, it did not work ever again so I am kind of nervous, and I no longer an under warranty.....

we have a shared drive of bootleg movies and tv shows on our work computers and I am always taking from that and putting onto my computer, but a month or 2 ago there was some worm on the server and it was shut down for mainteience to get rid of it. I wonder if I have the worm? but that was over a month ago now.... it can't be....

rawwwwr.

Maybe the HP is rejecting all the Celine Dion you loaded into it?

also I fixed my computer... a little anyway. I downloaded some thing called AIM Fixer or some shit and it found a virus from AIM, and then I downloaded Spyware Doctor and paid for the full version which found all this shit Ad Aware couldn't, then I did a few other things, and looked for other updates to download from microsoft. The computer still freezes but for less of an interval. This is managable until I get back and can take it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy.

I think I am going to try uninstalling FireFox and reinstalling it. I think the virus or whatever has affected FireFox cos everytime I go to my history I get the error message and it closes down.

this is bull shit.

^ The Geek Squad just fixed my laptop. They replaced the hard drive and transfered my memory. Works great now.

I ended up getting the HP tx1320 for $1050. It was the cheapest small (12.1" screen) available, plus it has the touchscreen and all sorts of extra goodies. The size was my biggest concern, I really wanted small and light. So far, I'm thrilled with this thing.

good for you! make sure you download all the necessary goodies to keep it from getting fucked up like mine did! it kept freezing and I was about to kick the shit out of it. finally I paid for Spyware Doctor and they got some shit out, then I downloaded this thing called Uniblue Registry Booster 2, which was like a miracle. it's 29.99 but it scans your registry for Trojans and worms and all this other unnecessary shit. It found 315 bad things in it!!!! I bought the full version after the scan and removed it, and now it is working like the day I bought it!!!!!!

also for anyone wondering about the running processes in the task manager, there is a webside called processlibrary.com where you can type in the file name and it tells you if it's good or bad and what happens if you end the process.

my life is so excellent now that my computer is fixed. it was seriously taking like 10 minutes to type a very short response on TP!

Yeah, I can actually play with my new toy now! I've been without power since Friday morning, I just got it back today. This whole city got messed up really bad after a storm early on Friday, fences blown over, trees falling on vehicles, power lines down everywhere, pretty nasty. Some people still don't have power!

The worst part was that I have electric heating, brrrrrrr . . . .
