Narrowly missed a shooting in Seattle
wow, so my friend and i that do artsy photography around seattle narrowly missed a shooting on friday night. if you missed the thread, we have been going to different parts of seattle about once a week for the last few months to take artsy/trick photography...whatever we feel. we went to pike's place market on friday night around 11p to do some night shots in a little coble stoned alley there. we took the bus and got off about 10:45p and saw a bunch of cop cars (about 7) pulling up across the street from our bus stop. we almost didn't get off, but did. we were looking over there and they seemed to be apprehending someone. we kept walking and turned the corner towards Pike's Place Market and saw this guy sitting on the curb with with his pants cut off and bleeding all over. one of the paramedics was making a gun with hand and asking how he'd been shot. we pasted by him totally engrossed and concerned but still continued on to the market enroute to take photos. there were ambulances and cop cars everywhere on that block. we did our photos and then caught the bus home. my friend found this article the next day.
the article
looks like we narrowly missed the shooting.
this is a photo of the pike's place market clock i took when we had just pasted the guy who had gotten shot just minutes after the shooting.
kind of scarey.

Sea-town's a little more gangsta than people realize...
I would have been tempted to take a "reality" shot of that shooting victim. In effect, shooting him twice.
Does that make me really tacky and tasteless?
Ok, fess up now...let's see the tasteless pic you snuck of him!

At least you're okay, Beth. I've heard far too much gunfire in Baltimore over the years. Hell, 3 blocks from work about a month ago someone was shot in front of a 24-hr pharmacy I usually stop at for smokes on the way home as I was leaving work.

i dont understand americans and their relationship with guns. everyone i know from the US has a shooting story. my mate curran from new york was chased by a man with a gun, soon after september the 11th happened at at the age of 14 he ran away and came to london. its a bit scary to think people see shit like that...
mind you in london we have the same stories except with cunts with knives...in a few month period around 4 years back i lost one freind to a bunch of twats out on the stab then soon after another mate got 8 stabs but luckily survived. pleantly of other stories from my horror estate where i live...i think guns scare me more though

Without turning this into the old "i hate guns" debate... responsible gun owners don't go out shooting each other in the street. It is a fact of life in major and small cities around the world that folks have guns illegally. Unfortunately, the deterrant to crime isn't there to prevent violence, be it with guns, knives, wooden clubs, or rocket propelled grenade.
Beyond that, living in the most deadly city in the US, I can tell you unequivocally that 98% (per FBI statistics) of the murders in my city last year were related to drugs, specifically crack and heroin.

Wow, freaky stuff. Glad to hear the timing was off! That stuff certainly makes you you view life a bit different.....at least for a little while.
