Dude, I am in the exact same boat. I want to learn by DOING...I like reading about the stuff, just because I like learning but it can get to be really drab, especially the way these things are taught in lectures. I know that I need my degree to pursue my future career but it is sooooo difficult to get there.
That's why I've decided to take a year off and actually do some of the stuff I want to do when I get out of school (conservation wildlife). It was the toughest decision of my life (especially since during this planning of my new life I also decided to sell my horse- if I'm traveling the world, it's just not fair to him) but hopefully by the end of my travels I'll have a better idea of where I want to go with my career and more incentive to stay in school and learn so that I can do it and apply for the vet program somewhere.
Good luck to you, whatever you decide!
