Find some way to start your own business, working for others sucks and you will never make any money. you will be happy to work 3 times as hard for yourself because your heart is in it.
I know I have done it twice

Really slowly working on my MA in counseling. About to start working in Belize with a non-profit organization that works with the materially poor. I'll be working with children born with HIV and with groups of volunteers coming from the US volunteering their time.

Just finishing off my double degree in Engineering and Computer Science.......this is my 6th and final year.....hopefully, and it's safe to say I'm over it.

That's why I've started visiting this site, as once I'm finished I wanna get away and travel, and that will be happening the second half of next year throughout Europe.

For some extra cash I do some part time security/crowd controlling work, as well as some mystery shopping!

Hey All,
Thank goodness I used the search button, cause was going to start this thread otherwise
Well, I used to work-as in all thourhg High School and University at a place called Yatala Pies in Queensland. Some ppl would have definately heard of that place. Been there 8 1/2 yrs an now unfortunately, it is time for me to leave there and travel the world!!!! hahahahaha am trying my hardest to hit the boss up for a payout cause been there soooo long. She prob will, I can get away with murder there hmmmm, a video camera would definately be on the cards then!!

Well I have just graduated from Uni. Attended the Uni of Queensland and did a dual degree in Engineering (Mining) and Science (Geology) so I guess you can say that I am a Rock Dude hahha, cool huh
Pays real well, but means I gotta leave in remote areas....how am I supposed to meet Miss Right out there??

Damn, all you serious students put me to shame. I am on the 8-year plan (maybe longer) for my BA in env. studies. Go to school for a few years, take off, school again, off again (move around a bit), etc. Its really a messed up routine, but hey, that's life!

I'm a management consultant - for ten years now (wow, ten years?). Sounds important, right? Nah, just go in and tell people how to run their apartment complexes (specialize in federally subsidized housing). Its boring and the US gov. reams me on self-employment tax. But I get time to travel! Most important! Trying to find that awsome place to retire one day, where I can be broke as a joke and put my feet up!

I graduated college last year with a BS in info. systems/economics. I've been working as a freelance graphic/web designer since then, but unfortunately work has been slow so I'm being forced into corporate america. I'll be working as a computer tech for about 1.5-2 years til I go back to school for a doctorate in economics. I'm definitely going to fit in a looong trip in somewhere in there.

Woah,,,that is a dream job indeed...and what a diverse group!

Personally, I had 'left wing politics/punk-ass skid disorder' and i'm still recovering, but it did make for some interesting journeys. As a result i followed the trades route and now lead the drones life of a Mechanic for a GM dealership. Easy money, stability, but most important, they dont mind if you take holidays (within reason).

My true aspirations will be realized within a year; Renovating the house to accomodate other travellers. Maybe a key to even more freedom.

Freedom For Everyone!

tell me about it!

Well anyway, I'm about to graduate from college. Getting a job is a very tricky concept for everyone, but being from Eastern Europe makes it almost impossible. So I do all kinds of part time jobs for the time being- mainly teaching kids english (I study english language and literature).

and indeed, freedom for everyone!

Im currently working 2 full time jobs, 1 part time job (about 87 hours per week) and im taking a few classes to finish my associates . My schedule is very, whats the word, sleepless. I work 3rd shift at a hotel doing night audit <-- allows me to play on the internet or do homework for a majority of my shift! When I leave this job at 7am I head about a block to a boutique and count the drawers and do deposits from the night before. I then head home to shower before going to my 9-5 job <-- regular peoples hours! At this job I work in the financial department at a boarding school for talented kids, think pre Juliard! Im also taking 2 classes to finish up my Associates Degree in Business Admin! One class is online (selfpaced) and the other meets one Sat a month (really not that bad)!

I know, I know! Im nuts but I moving to Hawaii after spending a few weeks in Oregon and SanFran in Feb, so i dont plan on working for about 2 months!

Call Me Crazy!

oh look! i'm at work and still bored so i'll post on this old thread for kicks........!
i'm in texas-dallas/ft.worth area-same "lovely" town scarlottedorian used to live in. i'm currently pursing on my proffesional development degree and working at a community college registrars office full time. I LOVE WORKING IN THE ACADEMIC FIELD!!!!! i want to either become an academic counselor or an academic librarian. being on a campus is such an awesome way to stay connected to the evolution of ideas and philosophies. i love walking down the hallways and seeing kids fresh out of high school talking about new ideas and was of thinking that they had never examined before. anyway, although i love working here my current job is either ridiculously busy or painfully slow (when classes are in session) that's why i have the luxury of gracing you guys with my aimless chatter.......

I finished a music degree last year and somehow found myself in administration because the money is consistent and relatively good. But now I find myself pining for more in life, something fulfilling and creative. Lost in my own lack of direction and ambition, I now plan to embark on a backpacking trip in Europe to find my inspiration for life and my future path to my career.

Any ideas of where to go for inspiration, I'm all ears. I will go anywhere to find it.

Hi!

Right now my current profession fueling my travel whims is a techretary! This is the front line of defense for the technicians everyone calls when their internet doesn't work. People and their internet geesh. Who uses it anyways! Ha ha
