Where DON'T you want to go?
Okay so random reverse questions as we are all travel lovers, but there's got to be a few places you just have zero desire to go to or see... So where are they?
Here's mine:
I have not a bit of desire to go to France. Actually, I think it's mostly Paris I don't care to see (and I actually DO appreciate art too!) but also just France. I've had a lot of friends who went to Scotland and I've never had a big desire to go there, nor do I have a huge desire to go to Japan.
So there it is.

Wow, I really don't know... If I were given a plane ticket to anywhere, I'd just go. i guess I would not go to Somalia. But totally out of ignorance.

Good question. If I had a plane ticket then I would go anywhere. But if I had to pay for it...I would prob not go to Japan. Really doesnt interest me. I think its because we have a STRONG japanese culture here. Also China doesnt interest me. Really I think it has a lot to do with being around that culture so much in Vancouver.

I think Vancouver has the largest Chinatown outside of China. Something like that.
I just watched Hotel Rwanda and that gave me the heebie jeebies on going there or near it. I know that was based on the civil unrest there a few years back, but still.
I'm not a big fan of places that have or recently had such lawlessness. Life is short as it is and I do not have any intention on expediting the inevitable .

wow. It takes a lot to admit that there are just places you dont wanna go. Good for you. sometimes there's so much pressure to "see the whole world" and stuff. Nice work picnic.
Now, as for me, since we're being honest, besides for Pamplona, i dont really wanna go to Spain. And I have no rational reason for this, i just dont ever care to hit it up when i go to Europe. Its a totally ridiculous feeling, i'm sure i would love it, but i couldn't care less about checking it off my list.

There are places I wouldn't want to be because of the current situation (like war zones and major conflict areas), but I'd still be interested in going once things settle down. For example, I would have loved to travel around Iraq before the war. Of course, I'd visit Kurdistan (the autonomous region in the north) tomorrow if I could.
For some reason I've never had any interest in Germany (only stayed overnight a couple of times). A lot of people seem to love it though, so I'll have to give it a chance the next time I'm in Europe. I also saw a lot of nominations in the 'world's most beautiful women' thread, which is hard to ignore...

Second to San Francisco, I believe.
Personally, I avoid war zones - that's my husband's job.
When I was facing the prospect of extended solo travel for the first time, my mom asked why not Japan, and at the time I really had no great desire to go there. It wasn't an ambivalence to the culture (also growing up in Vancouver, Asian influences were strong chez moi), it was more that after studying history, art, Western Civ, French and Spanish for umpteen years, Europe was a huge draw. Later, when we had the opportunity to move to Japan, I was thrilled, and loved every minute of our three years there. When she found out that we were moving there, my mom remembered my earlier reluctance and was surprised how much my attitude had changed. I think we just kind of prioritize, and something that doesn't appeal today or this year might, some time down the road. A few years back we contemplated a move to India, and I was enthusiastic about it, but right now, it isn't high on my list. I know if I was handed a ticket I'd go, and I'd be blown away, but right now it isn't a high priority.
I don't feel guilty about the places I DON'T want to go, because I know that if the opportunity comes up down the road I'll go and love it - and I think things happen at the time they're supposed to happen in your life, and for particular reasons, so obviously I'm not ready for what India has to teach me yet.

I'm not too keen on Indonesia and I think that is because everyone from Perth seems to go there on package holidays and there would be a few too many tourists.
