HAHA yeah, I think it may have been . He visits our campus yearly fortunately he was bugging the nonengineering side of campus so I wasn't subjected to his bs as often. To think when I first showed up there that I told him that he may want to take his daughters into the student center in order for them not to hear the inevitable vulgarities that would ensue from the students.

30 seconds later...

Now that girl over there looks like a penis sucker...Her whore mongering boyfriend blah blah blah...

Yeah, he's originally from Ohio but tours all over the country with his family, preaching fire, brimstone and hate. I used to skip class all day whenever he came to UCLA just to do battle with him. Seriously, my friends would call me up in the morning, "He's coming!" and I'd clear my schedule just to go a few rounds.

Omi - for example, you said Taiwan and China would be too congested? You might be surprised. I didn't find Taipei any more congested than any other big city, Hong Kong and Shanghai the same. Asian cities have so much character and uniqueness (and in some cases complete, unbridled development and capitalism in full effect)to them...to keep them off your list is criminal!

Actually, the most congested I have ever felt in any city was in Camden Town/London when it was market day. I have never, ever to this day seen more human beings packed onto the sidewalk. Kind of freaked me out.

I guess for me the areas of least appeal would be Carribean islands (have been to a few already...they are all kind of the same...very lovely, but that's about it), Hawaii......South Korea. I have heard nothing but negatives about Korea. I have loved every Asian city I have traveled to so far, but S. Korea holds no appeal, simply based on preconceived notions from other people's comments.

It's true. Taiwan is not at all condensely packed like you might think. Hell, Taipei is the biggest city and is home to only a few million. Not like Seoul that holds 14 million. I live in the second biggest city in the country and I dont feel crowded at all. My apartment is the same size or bigger (and cheaper) than a typical North American apartment.

You should give S. Korea a chance. Its a really interesting place. Seoul has an international district that could rival the most multi-cultural cities in ther world. It is pretty dirty though, but the food is unbelievable there. Far better than Taiwan. My biggest problem with S. Korea though was some of the arrogant foreigners that live there and act like they can do whatever they want. S. Korea is definitely a party country, theres a lot of drinking all the time there.

Hawaii, also, you gotta give a chance. All the beautiful Japanese women are worth the trip alone. Before I went I had no idea that half of the tourists at any given time are from Japan. But if you know any locals there they can show you the best parts of Hawaii away from the hotels. My best memories from that island were hanging out with families that have been on the island for several, several generations, tellin me the history of the island. And damn, its just absolutely georgous. Its a popular place for a reason.

Ah, but have you thought that traveling while old and decrepit will carry dangers of their own-- in all likelihood a lot more serious-- that you do not face now? It's all relative. A lot of the potential problems in "dangerous" places wouldn't have anything to do with your looks, it would have everything to do with being a tourist in general.

I'm not sure where I don't ever want to go. I can't think of anything. I guess I wouldn't want to go anywhere where there is more than a 5% chance of getting shot. I will go to France someday (not crazy about Paris) and I don't think I want to go to China. Maybe Taiwan and Hong Kong. I dunno.

I'll toss my two cents in here.

I will go anywhere at least once. However, I am not real hip on travelling to the over-touristed places, i.e. western europe.

Don't get me wrong, I'll go see it but I am not overly excited about it.

I don't care to go to France, Belgium, Luxemburg (sp?), Andorra, Afghanistan, all the other stans, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and that's about it as far as countries go. Although if I didn't have to pay and I had someone else to go with, I would definitely go if offered the ticket.

I also don't care if I ever see Hawaii or the Bahamas..too touristy, expensive, and cheesy.

There's nowhere I wouldn't want to go. If given the chance, I'll go anywhere at least once.

I would go pretty much anywhere.

Places I am not in a hurry to see would be Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and such places. Another place I haven't really considered would be Africa...I am not really up for doing a Safari or anything like that, the extent of Africa I want to see would be Egypt and Morocco but that is it.

I agree that theres no place I wouldnt go given half the chance, but some are just waaay down on the list.

I think one of the places that I odnt mind missing is Australia. Im not sure why but it doesnt really interest me. But now a friend is moving there and ive been invited to stay for as long as I want, so who knows, I will probably end up going.

Mongolia seems like it offers very little, as well as Korea.

I've never had much interest in going to Africa, except for perhaps Morocco and Egypt... I've never had much interest in Korea either... I hadn't thought about it until someone mentioned it... But I agree with everyone in that I would go to these places if offered the opportunity. I guess I just haven't thought about it much.

With that preacher nut job, are you sure it wasn't Brother Rick? He came to my school (Northern Kentucky University) and i would just verbally rape him the whole time. Like omisan said, I would cut class to go tell him off. Eventually I realized that intelligent argument got you nowhere with him, likewise with foul argument. Or just yelling in his ear point blank. This guy, from what i've heard, just does it to piss people off till they attack him and then he sues them. I dunno.

Anyways.

I have no interest in going to any Muslim fundamentalist countries, and unfortunately Indonesia is on that list. So are all the Stans, and the Bible Belt too. Don't want to go to Oklahoma. Other Than that, maybe middle africa can wait some years before i decide to trek there.
