Now this is probably going to sound bad, so I appologise ahead of time for sounding like a jerk.. That is certainly not how it's meant... My step-mother's Aunt passed about six months ago and because my step mother is the only heir that means she and my dad are getting a large inharitence (somewhere around 1.5 million) in the spring after the estate is settled... Now as a result of that, they are giving me 35k$... I feel shitty being excited about that, but since I'm planning my trip for next August my options have just expanded ten fold! Yay?

sorry about your step-aunt, but yay for $35k.
I guess you could spend it in her memory and do something creative for her everywhere you go, but im just too tired to think of something right now..

I understand your mixed emotions...BUT...you can't take it with you. If you can use the money to travel, what better way to affirm her life. Use the money to expand your understanding of the world!

people die and the cash they didn't spend has got to go somewhere. At least you are getting it instead of the government! Now fly with it! Do something HUGE. I say buy some land on a beach somewhere and start building the most kick ass youth hostel ever.
A lifetime of amazing begins with a step like that.

I'm thinking of taking 10K of it along with whatever I save and using that for my trip and then saving the other 25K... I figure that the total with be between 16k-18k... and that would be more than enough to wander and have a great time for a while... Plus, since I'll have a holiday maker visa, there is a good chance I may NEVER have to come home. At least not for a few years...
